Southern Star 13th May - 2017-05-09

Bandon GAA followers were shell-shocked for all the right reasons on Sunday evening last at Brinny after witnessing the most dramatic of come-backs deep into injury time against the formidable Muskerry selection.

Trailing by two points, with time almost up, Darren Crowley rattled the back of the net to edge us one point in front after he had been fouled outside the 20 m line and Adam Murphy still had time to fling over a point from way-out on the right wing.

This comeback looked scarcely on  10 minutes earlier after the concession of 3 second half goals had rattled Bandon to the core but Michael Cahalane’s goal on 22 minutes gave us back our confidence and ensured we were able to reel in our opponents.

It was great to get over this pre-leminary round hurdle and we can now plan for Blackrock in the first round proper in three weeks.

Jason Hickey gave a great display over the hour and special mention also to Ronan Crowley on his first half display.

The Minor Hurlers recorded a good victory over Owen Gaels last week on a score of Bandon 1-21 Owen Gaels 0-09.

Aidan O’Mahony was the star player contributing 1-12 of the over-all score.

The under 16 hurlers continued their good run with a 6-16 to 1-17 victory over Kinsale last Saturday evening.
