Bandon GAA enjoyed a Clean Sweep of 5 successful competitive games in the past week.

SHC

On Saturday evening last our Senior Hurlers proved far too strong for the Carraigtwohill selection 2-18 – 0-14 in Round 2B of the Senior Hurling Championship at Ovens.

Four early points opened up a three point gap and in truth our lads were comfortable from there on without ever firing on all cyclinders.

All three of our full -back line Eoin Ryan, James Walsh and Philip Crowley had great games whilst further out-field James O’Donovan, Joe Harrington, Jason Hickey, Michael Cahalane, Adam Murphy and Ronan Crowley were also prominent.

JBFC

An unusually warm Ahiohill was the venue on Sunday morning for Bandon’s second football team’s Junior B Football championship first round game against Clonakilty, which ended  Bandon  0- 15 - Clonakilty 1- 08.

There was probably a full team missing, but those who dared to show up acquitted themselves reasonably well.

With so many missing players makes it impossible to judge where exactly Bandon are in this championship.

There were four current minors on the team and seven of the team are U21. Good to see some of the elder statesmen also still performing well.

The half-time score was 0.07 to 0.04 and Bandon played more controlled football in the second half when they were against the strong breeze.

In truth , Bandon would have won the game much easier had they not given away possession of the ball so cheaply and also some handy goal chances were not taken , and Clon’s late goal brought the lead down to just five points  .

Eoin Nolan had a very good game and great to see him scoring points with ease .

At the final whistle Bandon were just relieved to have avoided the Sunday morning “ banana skin “ and to be in the next round.

The under 16 Hurlers made it three wins for the week-past when they re-commenced their league activity after the exam break with a very exciting victory over Courcey Rovers 5-16 to 2-14.

Trailing 0-6 to 1-9 at the small whistle the lads had a far better second period.

Our Under 14 hurlers savoured a last minute goal victory away to Bishopstown in the league on a score of 3-10 to 3-12 and last but by no means least the Under 12 footballers finished their league campaign with a 5-9 to 2-11 home victory over a very good Sam Maguires team last Monday week.
