Premier Intermediate Football

Our premier intermediate footballers recorded their first Division 3 League victory at the third of asking over a determined Bishopstown side 0-10 to 0-9 in the top pitch last Saturday evening which threw in at the slightly earlier time of 04.30p.m.  Both teams were short many regulars but this didn’t faze us as we scorched into a 08-02 half time lead thanks in the main to our sharp-shooter Barry Collins at full-forward and veterans James O’Donovan and Jason Hickey at full back and centre back respectively.  Indeed a highlight of that half was the physical tussle between James and our visitors substitute Denis Crowley who proved to be handful for the remainder of the game.

Bishopstown narrowed the gap to the bare minimum with a minute remaining but some great defending by Rob Long and Timmy McCarthy ensured there was no way through for that all important equalizer.  Besides the importance of the victory and the 2 points going with it, two other noteworthy aspects of the game were the full game played by David Aherne after his long Asian travels and the introduction off the bench for the long-time injured Brian Crowley, (WELCOME BACK LADS).

Team:  Jack Donegan, David Crowley, James O’Donovan, Joe O’Mahony, Donough Lucey, Jason Hickey, Cian O’Mahony 0-1, Peter Murphy 0-1, James Walsh, Timmy McCarthy 0-1, Philip Crowley, David Aherne, Rob Long, Barry Collins 0-6, 3f’s, Matthew McNamara 0-1. Subs: Olann McSweeney for Joe O’Mahony 7 Brian Crowley for David Aherne.

Underage

Best wishes to our Premier 2 Under 13 Footballers at the weekend tbc when they face a potentially very good Bantry Team in this Rebel Og Central fixture
