Bandon GAA Notes 03-03-2018 - 2018-03-10

U13

Bandon opened their U-13 Premier 2A football league account (Bandon 4-1 Bantry 1-4) with 2 points on the board, playing out a hard fought victory over their arch rivals Bantry under lights in Bandon last Friday evening.
We had a number of leading lights in this game particularly the solid half back line of Dan Lane, Sean Ahern and Ciaran Twomey and the equally impressive full back line where the young Steven Murphy was a colossal at full back as was goalkeeper Donnacha Mccarthy behind him who brought off a series of superb saves including a penalty kick to keep Bandon in the game.
Zac Canniffe worked tirelessly at midfield as did Conor Payne who opened the scoring to Bandon with a goal in the first minute.  This settled the nerves quickly followed by a green flag raised by Hugh O Mahony after turning his marker to run in for a well taken goal.  Typical Bantry refused to lie down and came back with a goal and a point themselves.   Bandon missed a number of goal chances before Darragh Power was on hand to touch the ball home.
In the second half we withheld constant pressure from Bantry with resolute defending and goalkeeping and see out the victory when Sean Ahern scored a goal from a long range free. Team: Donnacha McCarthy, Daniel O Leary, Steven Murphy, Rory O Callaghan, Ciaran Twomey, Sean Ahern, Dan Lane, Danny Crowley, Zac Canniffe, William Allen, Conor Power, Jack Cullinane, Darragh Power, Hugh O Mahony, Jack Murphy.  Subs: Subs: Callum Waugh, Ronan Crowley, Colm McCarthy, Jay Brennan, Liam Twomey, Jack Coughlan.
