Bandon GAA Notes 28-04-2018 - 2018-05-15

Senior Hurling League

On Saturday evening last at Brinny, in just their second game in the County Senior Hurling League, Bandon played poorly and lost 0-13 to 3-12 to the reigning All Ireland Intermediate Hurling champions Kanturk.

The contingent from Na Piarsaigh who were watching the game will certainly not have gone home quaking in their boots about their championship opponents this coming week-end at the same venue Brinny on Sunday at 2.15p.m.

The half-time score was 0.06 to 2.08 and one of the goals conceded was extremely soft. Bandon did play better in the second half

The only real positive on the night was the display of substitute Ciaran McCarthy from last years minors who acquitted himself well.

Bandon only scored one free from Adam Barry in first half. On a heavy pitch Bandon played much better in second half despite conceding a goal in the first minute of second half. However, the under 14s were left disappointed after being able to play only one game in the Feile Competition at Bandon last Saturday due to the unavailability of pitches at other pre-designated venues.  The lads were defeated by Ibane Gaels 3-4 to 2-5 in a very closely contested game.  Earlier in the past week we defeated Newcestown 10-8 to  5-15 in boggy conditions. William Allen, Sean Ahern, Aaron O’Reilly, Eamonn Twomey andrthe Collins brothers were best for Bandon.

Lastly, Bandon GAA clubs extend the very best wishes to the Bandon RFC Under 18s in the All-Ireland Final against Skerries RFC on this coming weekend and to our dual players Ben Donegan and James Collins O’Brien.
