Junior B Football

Congratulations to the players and mentors of our Junior B Football team upon their great victory in the West Cork Final over Goleen at a rain-soaked Castlehaven last Saturday evening 0-13 to 1-8.

This is a fantastic outcome because in 2019 our second football team will be operating in the Junior A football League and Championship.

Minor Hurling

Our Minor Hurlers qualified to play in the A County Final after a 05-08 to 01-14 semi-final victory over Cobh last Monday week in the 4G pitch at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.  The final is on this Friday evening in Ovens at 8pm against Kilta Og.  The lads were out of luck in the Minor A Football Championship when defeated 1-9 to 1-8 by Ibane Gaels last Friday evening in Ahiohill.

U12 Football

The under 12 Footballers had a big margin victory over Adrigole in the Group 1 Football League Final on the 3rd September at Bandon
Bandon 4-17 Adrigole 1-2.
A first final for this particular group and there was a fine crowd in attendance on a lovely evening in Bandon. Adrigole brought a sizeable group of supporters to support their team who had won 6 of there last 7 games in the league including scoring 3-16 in a semi final win over Castlehaven.
A close game was anticipated but it turned out to be a one sided game as Bandon were on top from the start. Bandon defence excellently marshalled by Rory Golden, Cillian O Mahony and Coen Crowley kept the dangerous Adrigole forwards at bay. Goalkeeper John Buckley made a few important saves early on. The Bandon forwards started in terrific form ably assisted by the midfield duo of Stephen Murphy & Kevin Hannon. The game was over as a contest at half time as Bandon who played magnificently in the first half overwhelmed a young and brave Adrigole side. Bandon led at half time 4-9 to 0-1 David Whelton (2-1) Gearoid Murphy (1-4) the main scorers following excellent work from fellow forwards Jack Cullinane Adam Barry and Charlie Kendellen.
Bandon with the game in safe keeping at half time made 3 changes with Kevin O Connell and Jack McNamara replacing Eric Classeon and Shane O Mahony who had put in a solid halfs work. Up front Ronan Aherne replaced Charlie Kendellen. Bandon made numerous substitutions in the second half introducing the rest of the squad including Adam Kelly John Hayes Holland Jamie Minihane Zack Doyle Keelan O Brien Donnacha Sheehy Christopher Trunwit. All subs made an important impact keeping Bandon on. Bandon added a further eight points in a second half. Adrigole battled on bravely scoring a good goal and point but Bandon ran out easy winners.
There was great celebrations at the whistle as inspirational Captain Jack Cullinane lifted the plaque for the winning Bandon team. Bandon will now turn their attentions to the Cup competitions which begin on Monday September 17th. Both Bandon U12 teams will be intent on winning their respective competitions.
