Hurling - U16
Sam Maguires 3-03
Bandon 2-04

The under 16 hurlers bowed out of the B championship to Sam Maguires in the quarter-final at Enniskeane on Monday noon 3-3 to 2-4.

There was no lack of effort from either team but in truth the game lacked quality with only 5 scores recorded in the first half as we trailed 1-2 to 0-2.

Conor Calnan had us level inside 5 minutes from the re-start but the hard-work was un-done within a minute when Sam Maguires goaled after we failed to clear a rudimentary diagonal ball into our goalmouth.

In fairness to the lads they came back for more and Captain Mark ORegan stirred on the team scoring 1-2 (1 free) in the last 10 minutes to set up a grand finale.

However, it was not to be as Sams held out for a deserved victory where their full-back (No. 3) was man-of-the-match.

Team: E Hetherington, R ODriscoll, C Walsh, B Donegan, O Hurley, K McCarthy, A Burns, P Lang, M ORegan (1-3 2fs) G OConnell, L Fleming, S OSullivan, A OMahony B OConnell 0-1, C Calnan 1-0. Subs: S Lowney, H Lillis.
