St Brogans GAA Club’s Successful Year
|
St. Brogans
2005 will long be remembered in St Brogans GAA Club as being extremely successful with two county championships and various other titles won throughout the year.
Pride of place must go to the Under 14 hurlers and footballers who ended the year as double County Champions and could have been All Ireland winners with a little bit of luck. In an extremely punishing schedule in May and June they captured the County, Carrighdhoun and inaugural Carbery / Muskerry Titles as well as competing in the All Ireland Feile. This last competition was staged in Cork over a weekend in June this year with Bandon playing host to Kilmoyley from Kerry, Ballinascreen from Derry and Bishopstown. Bandon qualified for the semi-final after a tough series of games played on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Throughout the morning roughly 100 players plus mentors and supporters were fed by a group of Bandon Ladies who did such a wonderful job that our hospitality was of a standard to be achieved by other clubs. We are all indebted to these gallant ladies for their efforts.
Having Beaten Eire Og in the semi-final Bandon were unlucky to lose to Sarsfields in a very close final.
Once they were finished with the hurling this bunch of players set their minds to winning the County football title. While they suffered a minor setback when they were eliminated from the Carbery League in controversial circumstances (a boardroom decision) they retained their West Cork title in style making it four in a row. After three heart stopping encounters in the County section they were crowned County Premier Champions for the first time ever. A feature of those performances was that they were behind at halftime in every game but they had the ability and will to win to stage a comeback every time.
While the under 14s were blazing their trails of glory other teams in the Club were quietly going about the business of winning their own titles.
The under 11 hurlers became the Southeast champions for only the second time ever while the under 12 hurlers retained their West Cork crown.
The Under 16 hurlers won the inaugural Carbery / Muskerry League Title while the footballers regained their West Cork League and Championship titles.
The starting point for all this success is undoubtedly the Saturday mornings spent in the Charlie Hurley Park where a group of very dedicated people give freely of their time training and coaching children between the ages of six and ten. There are no titles won or lost at this age group but clearly the work done here has a huge bearing on what happens in later years. Long may the good work continue.

Bandon
Minor Football COUNTY CHAMPIONS
Bandon 4-09
Newmarket 0-04
Bandon minor footballers were deserved winners over Newmarket in the County “A” Championship Final played in Ovens last Sunday. This was a great team effort with each player giving his all from the throw in until the final whistle sounded and a score line of 4-9 to 0-4 was a just reward for their work rate. Bandon opened the scoring with a Brian Crowley point from play in the 6th minute and the same player added a great goal in the 10th minute. Points from play by David Aherne and Darren Murray made it 1-3 to no score when Bandon fullback Mark O Sullivan was harshly dismissed when a yellow card would have justified the petty jersey pulling foul committed. Newmarket pointed the resultant free and then added another from a free 2 minutes later but that was as close as they got as a Darren Crowley goal and a David Aherne free left the half time score 2-4 to 0-2 in Bandon’s favor. Darren Ryan moved to fullback and Eoin O Donovan moved to cornerback from corner forward and a two man full forward line was now in operation. Bandon started the second half in determined fashion and with Ronan McCarthy and James O’Donovan lording midfield the scores had to come and D Crowley from play, a David Kelly goal and a point from play by D Aherne stretched the lead to 3-6 to 0-2 the game was as good as over.
Newmarket pointed from play but Bandon responded with a B Crowley point from play, which was added to by an Aherne free, a B Crowley goal and a point by D Crowley and Newmarket closed the scoring with a pointed free on full time. The Bandon goalkeeper Raymond Brennan and full back line of D Ryan, Tom O Donoghue and Eoin O Donovan did everything asked of them after the sending off of Mark O Sullivan who was a huge loss. The half back line of Gavin O Riordan, James Walsh and David Crowley all had their moments and only one point from play conceded says it all. Subs also played their part and Mark O Leary, Tim Crowley, Colm Johnson, Alan O Leary and Jack Donegan all got some action and Brendan Collins was also available. How many times have we seen games been won by 14 players against 15, great stuff lads and to the coach Denny Aherne and selector Tom O Donoghue whose game plan and shrewd switches played a major part in this success we say thank you for bringing the title to Bandon for the first time since 1996.After a well deserved meal in the Munster Arms Hotel the team paraded through the town led by piper Finbarr Finn and a Garda escort, team captain David Aherne held the cup aloft as the lorry driven by Declan O Donovan and sponsored by Trunwit Transport slowly made its way. Club chairman Colman O Mahony and mayor of Bandon Don mc McCarthy thanked the players, management and sponsors Caulfield Supervalu Bandon. Coach and team captain returned a vote of thanks to all supporters who followed them all year.
Bandon were slow to settle and Glanmire with a whirlwind start had 1-1on the scoreboard and missed as much more before Bandon raised their game and were happy to be level at the short whistle 1-2 apiece thanks to a B Crowley goal and points by D Murray and D Kelly. In a hard tackling second half goals by D Crowley and points G O Riordan, J O Donovan, D Aherne and Crowley again gave Bandon a rather flattering win.
The Club AGM will be held in the pavilion at 7 o’clock on Tuesday 27th December everybody very welcome especially new residents in town.
Bingo this Thursday night at 9 o’clock.
No Lotto winner last week the numbers drawn were 6, 11, 13 and this weeks Jackpot is €850.

Bandon
Last weeks activities on the playing field were overshadowed by the untimely deaths of Angela Gabriel (nee Ryan) of Kilpatrick and Peter Crowley of Carhue.
Bandon GAA club will sadly miss Angela as she always gave a helping hand when called upon in the Pavilion and all will miss her good humour, laughter and wit. To Jimmy her husband and family we extend our deepest sympathy at this sad time.
Peter played football with Bandon and rugby with Bandon R FC and was a great friend to everyone who knew him and we sympathise with his wife Bernie and family on their sad loss.
Junior Football League Section 1 Final
Bandon 1-10
St. Colums 0-09
Tadg Mc Carthaigh’s excellent floodlit facilities were the venue for the J.F.league (section 1) final between Bandon and St.Colums on Wed Nov 30th. The game was a hard fought sporting contest with Bandon emerging winners by 1-10 to 0-9.
Bandon started strongly against the wind and rain and thanks to a free from R. Moloney and a point from P Mc McCarthy were 2 points up in 6 mins. Continued dominance from Bandon yielded no further scores and after 11 mins. St. Colums found the target twice in quick succession to level scores. In the 18 min.a great Bandon move ended with Owen Mc Sweeney goaling, followed by a pointed free per P McCarthy and 2 points by Mc Sweeney from play left Bandon leading by 1-5 to 0-2. Colums replied with 2 points and a great D O Donoghue point from near the sideline was cancelled out and the half time score read Bandon 1-6 St Colums 0-5. On the resumption an early point by Mc Sweeney stretched the lead but a strong Colums rally yielded 3 points. Both teams continued to play attacking football in very wet conditions and points from A Johnson, O Donoghue and a free by Moloney offset by a Colums point gave victory to Bandon for the second year in a row over the same opposition. After the game Donal Leahy presented the Ml Godley cup to Bandon captain Pat Prendergast. Next years selectors please note the scoring ability of u21 goalkeeper Owen Mc Sweeney in this league final.
Team; P Prendergast, B Hurley K Doyle T Crowley, K Walsh K Lucey N O Rourke A Johnson T Bambury, R Moloney J O Regan P McCarthy, D O Donoghue R Milner and O Mc Sweeney.
Minor Football County A Semi Final
Bandon 3-08
Glanmire 1-04
Bandon minor footballers qualified for the county “A” final when they beat Glanmire in a hard fought encounter played at Minane Bridge last Sunday on a 3-8 to 1-4 score line.
Bandon meet Newmarket in the final this weekend and will need to up the performance and play for the full sixty minutes plus if a county is to be won. Best of luck to all players and management and check locally re time and venue.
In spite of a strong finish the intermediate hurlers were well beaten by Ballymartle in the league semi final last Sunday morning played in Bandon where the effects of a long lay off from hurling was more than evident.
The club A G M is scheduled to take place on Tuesday night 27th December at 7 o’clock.
This Thursday evening December 8th a big Bingo session takes place at 9 o’clock in the pavilion with cash of €3000 to be won.

Bandon
Pride of place this week must go to our underage club St Brogans who won the u14 Premier County Football championship final for the first time when they defeated St Michaels in Riverstick on a score of 3-07 to 3-06. Bandon had 1-02 on the scoreboard before St Michael’s opened their account with a point and the city side went on to lead 1-05 to 1-02 at half time. A great start to the second half saw Bandon add 1-02 to their tally and they went on to dominate most of the half, but when the losers scored a goal in injury time Bandon had just one point to spare. Well done to coach Dan Minihane selectors Dan Crowley, John Hourihan and the St Brogans officers and players on this achievement.
Next Sunday at 2.30 in Minane Bridge (Tracton) Bandon play Glanmire in the county minor football “A” championship semi-final with the winners to meet Newmarket in the final.
The intermediate hurlers are due to play a league q/f against Ballymartle at 12 o’clock in Bandon next Sunday.
We would like to thank Mons. Kevin O Callaghan who celebrated the annual deceased members Mass recently held in the pavilion before a large attendance. The club also appreciates the work done by Noel Mc Namara as organizer and the Ladies who served refreshments in making the Mass an important event in our club calendar.
Congratulations to Padraig Crowley chairman of St Brogans on his new appointment as a Cork minor hurling selector for 2006 and we wish him success in the year ahead.
The club A G M is scheduled to take place on Tuesday night 27th December at 7 o’clock.
Bingo to night Thursday at 9 o’clock as usual with big Bingo to be held on 8th December with a grand total of €3000 in cash on offer.

St. Brogans
Under 14 Premier County Champions
St Brogans 3-07
St Michaels 3-06
One point. That was the difference in the end. But it was enough to give the St Brogans, Bandon Under 14 footballers their first ever Premier County Title in Riverstick last Saturday. The final whistle was greeted with a mixture of joy and relief by the Bandon followers who had watched their team battle to yet another close victory. Once again their never say die spirit matched by no little amount of skill was very much in evidence on the day. And it needed to be because their opponents were the reigning All Ireland Div 2 and County Feile Champions, St Michaels Blackrock.
The game started well for the Bandon lads as right from the throw in they took the fight to their opponents. Conor Hourihan got in early for a goal to settle the nerves and shortly afterwards two points were added by Chris O’ Donoghue and Conor again. That finished the Bandon scoring for the opening half as St Michaels took control around the pitch and scored a goal and five points without reply. As Bandon struggled to stay in the game one player stood head and shoulders above the rest. Corner back, Philip Crowley saved Bandon time and time again with vital interceptions and saving tackles during St Michaels’ period of dominance. The half time whistle brought some welcome relief and gave the team a chance to regroup.
Almost immediately after the restart Conor Hourihan had Bandon back on level terms with a goal and soon after he shot over a point to give his side the lead which they never surrendered. The Bandon backs got to grips with their opponents while Stephen Lynch and Conal Murphy took control of midfield and ensured that the forwards had a plentiful supply of the ball. Michael Minihane chipped in with a couple of points and when Chris O’ Donoghue soloed through to score a great goal Bandon were suddenly six points clear. Bandon got no chance to relax however as St Michaels clawed their way back into the game with a goal to leave just three between the sides with ten minutes left to play. Bandon extended the lead to four points before St Michaels goaled after the ref threw in the ball on the fourteen yard line to leave the minimum between the teams with five minutes to go. The last couple of minutes were spent defending the one point lead before the ref blew the full time whistle. The rest as they say is history. Immediately after the game Tony O’ Mahony, Chairman Bord na nOg Corcaí presented the trophy to the winning captain Conor Hourihan.
Bandon : Stephen Murphy, Peter Murphy, Eoin Sugrue, Philip Crowley, Joe Harrington, Eoin Jackson, Denis Cronin, Stephen Lynch, Conal Murphy, Sean Og Murphy, Michael Minihane, Chris O’ Donoghue, Fionn O’ Leary, Conor Hourihan, Mark Sugrue, Colin Swanton, Eoin O’ Mahony and Shane Hickey
Under 16 County Football Semi Final
St Michaels 3-06
St Brogans 3-07
St Michaels exacted some revenge the following day when they comprehensively beat Bandon in the Under 16 County football semi-final in Crosshaven. Bandon got off to a bright start with two early points before the team was disrupted with an injury to wing back Mark Muir. St Michaels seized control and with some sparkling play scored seven points in a row before Bandon finished the half with a point. Half time score was St Michaels 0 : 7 - St Brogans 0 : 3. St Michaels continued where they left off and once they goaled early the game was effectively over. Bandon to their credit never gave up but they found it impossible to break through the St Michaels rearguard for the goals that would bring them back into the game.
Team: J Donegan, M Minihane, D Ryan, S Crowley, M O’ Leary, A Tobin, M Muir, D Crowley, J McCarthy, R Wilmot, T Barrett, C O’ Mahony, R Payne, R Crowley, J McCarthy. Subs: Kevin O’ Dwyer, C Hourihan, Kyle Dwyer, C Collins and S Hourihan.

St. Brogans
U14 Football County Semi Final
Bandon 2-08
Glanmire 3-03
The Bandon under 14 footballers made it through to the county final on Saturday when they overcame Glanmire in the semi final after a dour struggle in Brinny. Bandon were nearly made to pay for early missed chances as they struggled for long periods to come to grips with Glanmire. Having played the better football in the opening half they still found themselves two points down at the interval on a score line of 2 : 2 to 1 : 3. Philip Crowley was Bandon’s goal scorer after about 10 minutes. The introduction of Michael Minihane for the second half was vital as it strengthened Bandon around the middle of the pitch and it allowed Chris O’ Donoghue to move forward where he finished with a score of 1 : 3. With the fullback line under pressure throughout Stephen Murphy made two great saves to keep Bandon in the game. Joe Harrington was outstanding at right wing back while Denis Cronin on the other wing never put a foot wrong. Stephen Lynch battled hard in the middle of the pitch and Philip Crowley proved a real handful at corner forward. Conor Hourihan had a quiet game by his standards but he still scored an inspirational point from a sideline to give Bandon the lead with 10 minutes to go. But the real star of this game was centre forward Conal Murphy who must have covered every blade of grass on the pitch chasing and winning many lost causes.
It wasn’t a pretty win but it was enough to put them in the county final where they will meet St Michaels next Saturday. Time and venue to be announced.
Bandon : Stephen Murphy, Colin Swanton, Eoin Sugrue, Peter Murphy, Joe Harrington, Eoin Jackson, Denis Cronin, Chris O’ Donoghue, Stephen Lynch, Sean Og Murphy, Conal Murphy, Mark Sugrue, Philip Crowley, Conor Hourihan, Fionn O’ Leary. Sub used : Michael Minihane
The under 16 footballers are due to play St Michaels in the County semi final on Sunday. Time and venue to be announced here also. The best of luck to both teams who have done Bandon proud this year.

Minor Football County 1/4 Final
Bandon 1-16
Canovee 1-05
Bandon minor footballers advanced to the county “A” semi-final when they overcame Canovee last Sunday afternoon in Carrigadrohid. The venue was decided by a toss of a coin, and the visitors with the aid of a strong wind opened the scoring with two points. Canovee soon equalized before Bandon replied with some well-taken points to lead 0-6 to 0-3 after twenty minutes. The home team leveled matters with a goal, but this only urged Bandon to step up their game and a goal scored by Eoin O’Donovan and points by David Kelly and David Aherne left the score 1-9 to 1-3 at the short whistle. The second half saw a much better performance when playing against the elements and the tactical changes made by the management team of Denis Aherne and Tom O Donoghue paid dividends. Bandon deserved to win with an impressive score of 1-16 to 1-5 for Canovee and now await the winners of Mayfield and Glanmire who meet in the other quarterfinal game.

U21 Hurling County 1/4 Final - Valleys too good
Valley Rovers 0-16
Bandon 1-07
For the third Saturday in as many weeks Bandon u21 hurlers traveled to the well laid out Enniskeane grounds and lost to a much stronger Valley Rovers outfit in the county championship. This was a hard fought game between two sides that know each other well, having played together in schools competition, but was ruined by an over fussy referee who was not consistent when applying the rules. Valleys opened the scoring with two points before Robert Moloney replied with a Bandon point; scores were exchanged with a huge James O’Donovan point and then some Valleys frees and two Donagh Lucey frees left the half time score 0-8 to 0-4 .The second half resumed with an exchange of pointed frees and it was 0-10 to 0-5 when Darren Crowley got to the end of a Jason Hickey free to score a good goal which was followed by a D Lucey point to leave the minimum between the sides. Then disaster struck for Bandon as rather harshly the referee sent full back Conor Sugrue to the line and Rovers tagged on the points in the last fifteen minutes of the game for a deserved win on a score line of 0-16 to 1-7 and we wish them the best of luck as they pursue a county u21 double. As for Bandon, the u21 hurlers and footballers had a great year in winning a West Cork double and the club appreciate the huge effort given from players and selectors over the year and with most of the panel available again next year we can go a step further.

After a long wait, Bandon u21 hurlers emulated the footballers and completed the West Cork “A” grade double when they beat Newcestown in Enniskeane last Saturday afternoon. While the standard of hurling was not as high as in the semi-final, it was a hard fought encounter between two evenly matched teams who contested every ball with vigor. Bandon with the aid of the wind opened the scoring with a Jason Hickey point from play but Newcestown replied with two pointed frees before Donagh Lucey added three points from frees and two from play to leave Bandon ahead 0-6 to 0-2. The first half ended with Newcestown adding two points from frees and D Lucey added one point to leave the half time score 0-7 to 0-4 in favour of Bandon. Playing against the wind Paul Moloney scored a point on the restart but Newcestown responded with a pointed free, points were then exchanged with Darren Crowley free, R Moloney, P Moloney and Lucey scoring for Bandon but Newcestown were now exerting a lot of pressure on the backs and got two more points for their efforts but P Moloney had the final say with a great point from play. This was a good team display but special mention to James O’Donovan who had an outstanding game at center back and Paul Moloney at full forward for his second half performance. Final score Bandon 0-13 Newcestown 0-11, and team captain Diarmuid Cronin was presented with the Teddy Kiely Cup, which was last won by Bandon in 1999. The club wishes to thank selectors Terry Moloney, Dan Crowley and Michael Cronin for the huge amount of work they have put in to this team. Bandon now meet Valley Rovers in the quarter final of the county, which will be played in Cloughduv next Saturday evening.
Bandon Team: E Duggan, A Nyhan C Sugrue C Moloney, D Lehane J O’Donovan B Dwyer, C Dullea J Hickey (0-1), G ORiordan D Lucey (0-7) R Moloney (0-1), D Crowley (0-1) P Moloney (0-3) D Cronin. Sub used P Murphy

Kilbrittain 2-07
Bandon and Kilbrittain clashed in the West Cork u21-hurling semi-final played in Enniskeane last Saturday evening with the winners to play Newcestown in the final. This was a repeat of last years final and a result was hard to predict but this time Bandon deserved to win in a hard fought game. Bandon played with the wind in the first half and led at the short whistle 2-10 to 1-2 with some great scores from Donagh Lucey and a goal from Darren Crowley. Kilbrittain scored a goal after the restart but some well-taken points and a good goal scored by D Cronin kept Bandon in front at the final whistle with the score 3-17 to 2-7 and a merited win. Bandon
Junior Football West Cork Semi Final
Gabriel Rangers 2-06
Bandon 1-07
Last Sunday in sunny Castlehaven our junior footballers gave a very disappointing display when they lost to Gabriel Rangers in the West Cork s/f. From the start Bandon
never got to grips with their opponents and failed to make use of the wind advantage but still led by 0-6 to 1-1 at half time and after having a player sent off rather harshly and the full back carried off injured the signs were not good for the second half. A goal and a point scored within three minutes should have ignited Bandon, as they now held a 6 point advantage but instead they tired and Gabriels came more into the game and it was only a matter of when before they led for the first time with a goal five minutes from the finish to win on a score of 2-6 to 1-7. We wish Gabriels the best of luck in the final next weekend. The club appreciate the huge effort put in to training since early Jan by the selectors and the players of this team but it was not their day and with West Cork championships won at u21, u18, u16 & u14 things can only get better.
Bandon minor hurlers defeated Ballinhassig and drew with St. Finbarrs in league games played during the last week. Well done to the u16 footballers and selectors- Colm Aherne & Pat Prendergast in winning the “A” Final against Clonakilty last Saturday evening.
The Cork GAA Club’s draw for 05/06 was launched last Friday night in Nemo Rangers magnificent new complex, which was built by Fleming Construction Bandon.

St Brogans
U16 Football West Cork Final
St Brogans 4-06
Clonakilty 0-09
The goal scoring ability of the Bandon under 16 Footballers proved decisive in Newcestown last Saturday evening when they got the better of a game Clonakilty side to capture the West Cork League and Championship titles. On a cold evening Bandon, playing against a stiff breeze, came flying out of the starting blocks as Roy Payne carved open the Clon defence with a goal inside the first two minutes of the game. Four minutes later Bandon doubled their lead when Darren Ryan made the journey from full back to send his penalty into the corner of the net and when David Crowley followed up with a point Bandon were seven points clear and the game only ten minutes old. Clon however were not going to go down without a fight and for the next twenty minutes they were camped in the Bandon half of the field. In that time even though Clon scored eight unanswered points to go in at halftime leading by a single point great credit was due to the Bandon defence for not conceding a single goal when under extreme pressure.
On the restart Bandon took control of the game around the middle of the pitch and even though the first couple of attacks yielded nothing Clon were finding it increasingly difficult to break out of defence. The pressure paid off as Bandon first of all equalised with appoint and then Ronan Crowley showed the poachers instinct as he followed up to goal from close range. Two further points and Bandon firmly in control and when David Crowley burst through from mid field to score Bandon’s fourth goal the game was over as a contest. Bandon scored another two points before Clon got their only score of the second half with one minute to go.
Afterwards the Cup was presented to the Bandon captain, Mark O’ Leary by Bord na nÓg Vice Chairman, Aiden O’ Rourke.
Bandon Team: Kyle O’ Dwyer, Sean Crowley, Darren Ryan, Diarmaid Crowley, Mark O’ Leary, Adam Tobin, Mark Muir, David Crowley, Jason McCarthy (Crossmahon), Cian O’ Mahony, Brendan Collins, Robert Wilmot, Roy Payne, Trevor Barrett, Ronan Crowley. Subs used: Michael Minihane, Cian Collins, Jason McCarthy (Deerpark).
U12 League Final
Clonakilty 4-12
St Brogans 1-05
The Under 12 footballers ended their season in disappointment when they crashed to a heavy defeat by Clonakilty in the League final in Clon on Sunday morning last. Both teams were evenly matched for the first twenty five minutes as they swapped points but then Clon raised the tempo and scored a goal and a point without reply before the break. Just after halftime Clon banged in two more goals to put them firmly in control. For the remainder of the game Bandon tried vainly for goals while continued to pick off the points. In the end Clon ran out easy winners on a score line of 4 : 12 to 1 : 5.

Bandon
Minor Football West Cork Final
Bandon 2-10
Castlehaven 1-06
Congratulations to the minor footballers who won the West Cork Final for the first time since 1996 when they defeated Castlehaven in Clonakilty last Saturday afternoon . In the first half Bandon were never in trouble and led at half time by 2-7 to 0-4 with a goal from Darren Crowley after good play by Eoin O' Donovan and a Brian Crowley goal when he got to the end of a David Ahern free and some great points from David Kelly, James O' Donovan and Ahern. Bandon started the second half with three points from David Ahern to increase the lead to 2-10 to 0-4 but they began to lose shape and left the Haven in for a goal and two points but for good defending by all six backs, the goalkeeper and especially Tomas O' Donoghue the final score of 2-10 to 1-6 would have been closer. This is a very welcome win following the success of the u21 footballers, and
the u14 footballers that beat Skibbereen in the West Cork final on Friday night last. Well done to team coach Denis Ahern and Tom O' Donoghue for the work they both put into this team during the year and is very much appreciated by the club.
Team - R.Brennan D Ryan M O Sullivan T O' Donoghue, G O Riordan C Crowley J Walsh, R McCarthy J O'Donovan, A O' Leary D Ahern D Kelly, D Crowley B Crowley and E O'Donovan. Subs used- D Murray and T Crowley.
Charlie Hurley Park was again the venue for the replay of the Intermediate hurling S/F between Kilbrittain and Arigadeen Rangers and the Carbery Rangers v St Vincents Intermediate football clash. Both games were played in terrible weather conditions with wind and rain making it impossible for players to perform to their best but however both
games were very exciting for the followers. Ross were winners by 0-13 to 0-7 in the football while Arigadeen won the hurling on a score of 3-6 to 3-5. Thanks to all club members who turned up to help at both games in the dreadful conditions.
The Cork GAA Club’s draw for 05/06 was launched last Friday night in Nemo Rangers magnificent new complex, which was built by Fleming Construction Bandon.

St Brogans
U14 Football West Cork Final
St Brogans 5-14
Skibbereen 0-07
The Bandon under 14 Footballers made it four West Cork titles in a row when they defeated a game Skibbereen side in floodlit Aughaville last Friday evening. Skib made the brighter start and were ahead by two points after ten minutes. The Bandon lads were slow to settle and could have found themselves further behind at this stage if Skib had not wasted some good scoring chances. Then a few quickly taken scores transformed the game as Bandon took control around the middle of the field and mounted attack after attack on the Skib goal. Bandon continued to dominate for the rest of the half and led at the halfway stage by 3 : 8 to 3 points.
The second half continued in the same vein as the first and in truth this game was over as a contest long before the final whistle. Afterwards the Cup was presented to the Bandon captain, Conor Hourihan by Bord na nÓg treasurer Noel Coakley.
Team: Stephen Murphy, Peter Murphy, Eoin Sugrue, Colin Swanton , Joe Harrington, Eoin Jackson, Denis Cronin, Chris O’ Donoghue, Stephen Lynch, Sean Og Murphy, Conal Murphy, Mark Sugrue, Fionn O’ Leary, Conor Hourihan, Philip Crowley . Subs: Michael Minihane, Eoin O’ Mahony and Shane Hickey.
U16 Hurling County Semi Final
Sarsfields 1-22
St Brogans 0-07
On Sunday morning the performance of the Under 16 hurlers proved to be a major disappointment as they were well beaten by Sarsfields in the County Semi final in Ballinhassig. As the score line suggests Sars were in total control from start to finish as many of the Bandon players never got going at all. It was a disappointing end for a team which showed so much promise earlier in the season.
U16 Football - The Under 16 West Cork football final versus Clonakilty is due to be played on Saturday evening. No venue had been arranged at the time of writing.
U12 Football - Since the football league resumed at the start of September Bandon have won their three games against Skibbereen, Bantry and Newcestown to qualify for the League Final. There they will come up against their old enemy Clonakilty at a venue and date to be decided.
U11 Football - After being outplayed in the first half of their South East League game by Carrigaline the under 11 footballers staged a marvellous second half fight back to turn an eight point halftime deficit into a win by seven points. The final score was Bandon 3 : 8 Carrigaline 2 : 4

U21 County Semi Final
Nemo Rangers 2-09
Bandon 0-07
On Friday night our U21 footballers lost to Nemo Rangers in the county semi-final. Nemo Rangers opened the scoring with a point but a reply from Jason Hickey cancelled it out before Conor Sugrue kicked a fine score. Eoin McSweeney pulled off a fine save to keep Nemo Rangers at bay after quarter of an hour. Robert Moloney and Donnagh Lucey both scored but Nemo Rangers finished the half the stronger scoring a few points and a goal at the end of the half to leave it 1-04 to 0-04 at the break. Nemo Rangers started the second half as they finished the first by scoring 1-02 without reply and left Bandon with a mountain to climb. Robert Moloney (2) and the impressive Conor Sugrue exchanged points with the Nemo Rangers men but it wasn’t to be. Bandon will be disappointed with the result as they had plenty possession throughout but Nemo Rangers were more economical with their use of the ball as Bandon chalked up the wides.

Bandon
Intermediate Hurling Championship 1/4 Final
Arigadeen Rangers 5-12
Bandon 1-17
On Saturday night Arigadeen Rangers defeated our intermediate hurlers in a high scoring encounter played in perfect conditions in Barryroe. Bandon were unfortunate to trail by a point at the interval as they were on top for long periods in the first half with Donnagh Lucey (4), Darren O Donoghue (3), Jason Hickey, Kieran Hurley and Darren Crowley all scoring but the concession of two goals meant Arigadeen lead 2-05 to 0-10 after thirty minutes of play. The sides exchanged four points a piece following the restart, Donnagh Lucey (3) and a fine effort by Darren O Donoghue before Arigadeen struck for their third goal at the three quarter mark. Donnagh Lucey replied with a 65 for Bandon but when Arigadeen Rangers got their fourth major it left Bandon with it all to do entering the last five minutes seven points in arrears. James O Donovan saw his free cancelled out by an Arigadeen Rangers effort before the impressive Kieran Doyle scored a point followed by a fine Jason Hickey goal to leave a puck of the ball between the sides entering the last minute but Arigadeen Rangers finished with a flourish to leave it 5-12 to 1-17 after a titanic battle.

St Brogans Feile Diary
|
As told in last month’s edition Cork hosted the Feile na nGael competition for 2005. This competition is the All Ireland Club Hurling Championship for Under 14s and was held on the 17th, 18th and 19th June. Clubs from all over the country competed for honours over the 3 days and the Bandon team as in the thick of the action.
Bandon played host to the Kilmoyley Club from Kerry for the weekend, which involved providing accommodation for their players and mentors for two nights. This was done by the families of the Bandon players and was greatly appreciated by all concerned. New friendships were made and it was wonderful to see the Kilmoyley contingent travelling to support the Bandon lads as the competition progressed.
On the playing front it was hectic to say the least. The competition started on Friday with a comfortable win over Kilmoyley. That evening all the competing teams and their mentors took part in a parade through the streets of Cork. Then at 10 o clock Saturday morning Bandon played Ballinascreen from Derry in a tough lowscoring game. While Bandon lead by a single point at halftime Ballinascreen equalised shortly after. With the game in the balance and chances being missed on both sides it took a wonderful point by Michael Minihane to hand the initiative to Bandon. With a few minutes left Denis Cronin scored a goal to make the game safe.
One hour later it was back into the fray against Bishopstown and what a thriller this turned out to be. Two good saves by Stephen Murphy in the first half helped Bandon g in four points clear at half time. Bandon were holding firm in defence with superb displays from Stephen Lynch and Eoin Sugrue when they were rocked by a goal from a twenty metre free two minutes into the second half. From there to the finish it was nip and tuck all the way as the game ended in a welter of excitement. Bandon were two points up when Bishopstown were awarded another twenty metre free. As the shot at goal was cleared by the massed defence the final whistle sounded to send Bandon into the semi-final.
Throughout the morning roughly 100 players plus mentors and supporters were fed by a group of Bandon women who did a wonderful job while at the same time keeping one eye on proceedings on the pitch. We are all indebted to these gallant ladies for their efforts.
Saturday evening and it was on to Brinny for the semi-final clash with Eire Og. Cheered on by the huge support Bandon took the lead through young Mark Sugrue shortly after the start. With Joseph Harrington fighting hard in midfield and Stephen Lynch controlling everything from centre back Bandon were in control without ever dominating the game. Indeed the star of this contest was corner forward Mark Sugrue who scored 2 : 4 out of Bandon’s total of 3 : 4. Bandon ran out 7 point winners to qualify for a historic final clash with Sarsfields.
The final took place on Sunday morning in Pairc Uí Caoimh again before a large attendance. While Bandon played with the wind in the first half marking was very tight by both teams and scores were very hard to come by. Bandon opened the scoring with a pair of Mark Sugrue points before Sars hit back with a point of their own. Conal Murphy then hit one over followed by two from Conor Hourihan to leave Bandon four points clear approaching the break. However Sars countered with a pointed free to leave a goal between the teams at half time. Bandon mounted attack after attack at the start of the second half but could not tack on the vital points to make the game safe. Sars finally got the break that they needed when they goaled with 10 minutes remaining to equalise for the first time. Two further points took the game out of Bandon’s grasp in the last few minutes to leave Sars as the Feile Champions.
The Bandon dream had finally come to an end but only at the last hurdle. The abiding memories will be of 3 days of tremendous excitement, of Kerry supporting Bandon, of the great work done by the volunteers and of the marvellous Bandon performances especially those of centre back Stephen Lynch who was outstanding from the start to the finish of a great competition.

Bandon
Premier Minor Hurling Championship 1st rd
Youghal 1-09
Bandon 1-08
On Friday Youghal defeated Bandons minor hurlers in the first round of the Premier Minor Hurling Championship. After though exchanges in the opening minutes Youghal registered the first score of the game but Darren Crowley replied for Bandon after ten minutes. Bandon began to get on top and scores followed from Brian Crowley, Gavin O Riordan and James O Donovan. Then disaster struck for Bandon as Youghal goaled against the run of play but Eoin O Donovan who flicked the ball to the net from close range soon cancelled this out but Youghal picked off one more point to leave it 1-04 to 1-02 in favour of Bandon at the break. On the restart Brian Crowley pointed two long range frees for Bandon but Youghal then had their best spell of the game knocking over four points without reply to tie the scores entering the last few minutes. Bandon looked good for victory when Gavin O Riordan and Darren Crowley put them two clear, however Youghal plugged away and scored two points and when a free was awarded following a ball that should have been cleared, by a referee who had to run the game minus any officials, and at premier minor we have come to expect higher standards. Bandon had one last chance to bring the game to a replay but James O Donovan’s free from all of ninety yards shaved the wrong side of the post and Bandon will have to make full use of the backdoor after losing 1-09 to 1-08. Bandon performed well and dominated most of the exchanges but failed to turn them into scores, the Bandon half back line of Mark O Leary, James O Donovan and David Aherne were exceptional throughout as were some of the older players on the team such as Alan O Leary, Ronan McCarthy and Colin Crowley but upfront key forwards struggled at times.
Team; Dermot Crowley, Alan O Leary, Timmy Crowley(Careys Cross), Tomas O Donoghue, Mark O Leary, James O Donovan(0-01), David Aherne, Colin Crowley, Gavin O Riordan(0-02), Ronan McCarthy, Brian Crowley(0-03), Jason McCarthy, David Kelly, Darren Crowley(0-02), Eoin O Donovan(1-00).
Junior Hurling Championship 2nd rd
Barryroe 2-15
Bandon 0-06
On Sunday night a determined Barryroe outfit defeated our junior hurlers in the championship, played in perfect conditions in Timoleague. The first half was a close encounter with Bandon opening the scoring thanks to a James Dullea free. David Lehane added a superb long-range effort before James Dullea pointed again from close range. Barryroe began to pick off a few scores of there own and took command as Bandon chalked up too many wides and it was 0-07 to 0-03 at the short whistle. Barryroe upped the tempo of the game in the second half and when they goaled shortly after half time the Bandon men had it all to do. Bandon fought bravely especially the half back line of Brian O Dwyer, David Lehane, and Kevin Walsh who were under severe pressure throughout and Vincent Goggin at midfield. Alan Johnson and impressive sub Dan O Donovan (2 points) both scored but upfront Bandon lacked any real goal treat and couldn’t match Barryroes physical nature and fitness in a very sporting encounter.
Team; John Crowley, Robert Moloney, Noel Bambury, Cathal Moloney, Brian O Dwyer, David Lehane (0-01), Kevin Walsh, Adrian Tyner, Vincent Goggin, Alan Johnson (0-01), Andrew O Donnell, James Dullea (0-02), James Milner, Paddy Murphy, Nicky Tyner.Subs; Danny Corcoran, Eoghan O Tuama, Dan O Donovan (0-02), Denis Canniffe, Paul Long.

From the restart Ahohill registered three points without reply and when they goaled soon after it looked ominous for Bandon who struggled in the second half. Bandon 1-11
Beara 0-12
On Saturday evening in sunny Kaelkill Bandon defeated Beara in the U21 football county championship quarter final replay 1-11 to 0-12. Ronan McCarthy opened Bandons account when he rounded the Beara full back and calmly fisted the ball over the bar. A few minutes later Bandon were awarded a penalty after David Aherne was pulled down in the box and Donnagh Lucey duly converted from the spot. However, Beara began to dominate at midfield and converted a few fine efforts but Bandon keep marginally ahead following a great point by wing back Sean Clarke and three frees from the boot of Robert Moloney after Conor Sugrue and Richard Milner were fouled and Bandon lead 1-05 to 0-05 at the break. A positional change by the Bandon mentors had an immediate effect as Donnagh Lucey, now operating at full forward exchanged two lovely points from play with the Beara men in the opening stages of the second half. Beara then had their best spell and registered four points without reply which gave them a one point advantage before Jason Hickey, who was outstanding throughout, played a captains part and kicked a marvellous point from the wing to level the scores. Beara edged ahead once more in this exciting contest but an excellent Robert Moloney free from the right wing tied the scores yet again and a never say die attitude in the remaining few minutes saw Ronan McCarthy put Bandon in the lead and Robert Moloney whose kicking from placed ball was impeccable added another free before the final whistle blew from the resulting kickout. This was a big win for Bandon and they can now look forward to meeting Nemo Rangers in a county semi-final. Well done to all involved.

Junior Football Championship 1st round
Bandon 0-13
Diarmaid O Mathunas 1-07
On Saturday evening Bandon overcame the challenge of Mathunas in the Junior football championship in their first group game. Darren O Donoghue registered Bandon’s opening score which was cancelled out by a Mathunas effort. Bandon then conceded a soft goal but it spurred them into life as a result and they played some flowing football for a twenty-minute period in which Darren O Donoghue (2), Robert Moloney, Pat McCarthy, Patrick Calnan, Richard Milner and Alan Johnson all scored. This was a crucial period for Bandon and was significant on the outcome of the game but Mathunas kicked two points before the short whistle to leave it Bandon 0-08 Mathunas 1-03 with all to play for in the second half. On the restart Darren O Donoghue scored a good point but Bandon were grateful to Pat Prendergast who pulled off a fine save to keep Mathunas at bay. St. Brogans
Inaugeral Carbery / Muskerry League
St. Brogans, Bandon 1-05
Blarney 1-03
The Bandon under 14 hurlers made history in Ballinora last Saturday evening when they became the first winners of the Inaugeral Carbery / Muskerry League. This competition was jointly set up by the underage Boards in both divisions with the purpose of giving the hurling teams in both divisions extra competitive matches. In this it has been successful with some great games being played over the last few weeks. The timing of the competition was also important as it will have helped clubs to prepare for the upcoming Feile.
Bandon overcame Blarney in a tough, low scoring game to win by two points. This was a game where defences were on top and scores were hard to come by. Even though Bandon were the dominant team at the start they still only led with a scoreline of one point to no score after twenty minutes. Blarney took the lead when hesitancy in the Bandon defence allowed them in for a goal against the run of play. However straight away Bandon came down the field and a long ball from Conor Hourihan was won by Conal Murphy who finished brilliantly to the net to restore Bandon’s advantage. From there the Bandon lads, aided by a superb performance from fullback Eoin Sugure, held their lead all the way to the final whistle. Afterwards the new trophy was presented to the winning captain, Joseph Harrington.
This week the Feile na nGael competition takes place in Cork. This is essentially the all Ireland under 14 club hurling championship and it will be run off over the three days of the weekend. The Bandon team will be playing the following three games in Bandon during Friday and Saturday:
Friday at 3pm V Kilmoyley (Kerry Champions),
Saturday at 10am V Derry Champions,
Saturday at 12noon V Bishopstown.
The winners of this group qualify for the semi final so please come out and support your local lads in their bid for glory.
The under 12 hurlers had two very tough South East League matches in the past week. The first was at home against Courcey Rovers and after having being outplayed for long stretches of the game the Bandon lads fought back to earn a draw. The second was against Sliabh Rua in Riverstick and this time Bandon held on to win by a single point.
Congratulations to Peter Murphy and Eddie O’ Donoghue who were selected to play for Cork Primary Schools football team at half time in the Cork - Clare match at Ennis last Sunday. Peter is a pupil of Larragh National School and Eddie is a pupil of Scoil Padraig Naofa. Both lads are members of the Bandon under 14 squads.

Junior Hurling League
Ballinascarthy 3-14
Bandon 1-10
Monday night the junior hurlers were beaten in the league by Ballinascarthy 3-14 to 1-10 in a tough encounter in which Ballinascarthys sharpness in front of goal was the difference between the sides. Two frees by James Dullea in the opening minutes following fouls on Danny Corcoran and Kevin Kelly as well as Vincent Goggin and Kevin Kelly scores had the side’s level in the opening quarter. Ballinascarthy then got a couple of majors but Bandon replied with a few excellent scores from play by Adrian Tyner and Vincent Goggin and Bandon trailed 2-06 to 0-06 at the break. Bandon made a few changes at half time, most notably Nicky Tyner who scored two points on the restart and the effective Andrew O Donnell. James Dullea scored Bandon’s goal and Paul Moloney picked off another point as Bandon battled hard for the remainder of the game but missed opportunities cost them dearly as Ballinascarthy took charge for the last few minutes, after Bandon dominated most of the half, and they scored 1-03 without reply. Bandon’s half back line marshalled by Alan Johnson played well despite being under extreme pressure at times, at midfield Vincent Goggin and Paddy Murphy worked tirelessly and upfront Paul Moloney was effective with many scores coming from his good work.
Team; John Crowley, Dan O Donovan, Noel Bambury, Shane Deasy, Tadgh Canniffe, Alan Johnson, Adrian Tyner, Vincent Goggin, Paddy Murphy, James Dullea, Paul Moloney, Robert Moloney, Kevin Kelly, Paul Long, Danny Corcoran. Junior Football League
Bandon 2-09
Barryroe 1-08
On Tuesday night our junior footballers were delighted to continue their unbeaten run with a 2-09 to 1-08 victory over Barryroe at home. Bandon won this game because they were more economical with the ball in front of goal than their counterparts and as injuries were beginning to take their toll after a busy week, there were a few changes to the line up with Sean Clarke, Pat McCarthy, Richard Milner and Matthew Moloney all impressing. Bandon got off to a good start when Pat McCarthy flicked the ball to the net but this was cancelled out by three Barryroe points in the opening quarter. Bandon gained the upper hand when Richard Milner kicked two lovely points and Pat McCarthy added another only for Barryroe to cancel out Bandons good work with a goal of their own. Before the half time whistle, Matthew Moloney kicked a fine score and from the resulting kickout, Diarmaid Cronin was fouled in the box and Donnagh Lucey slotted home the penalty and these scores proved to be vital in the end as Bandon lead 2-04 to 1-03 at the break. Pat McCarthy and Alan Johnson exchanged points with the Barryroe men after the restart before Jason Hickey kicked a fine score following good play by Sean Clarke and Donnagh Lucey put Matthew Moloney through for his second point of the game. Barryroe fought hard and picked off a few points in the last few minutes but Pat McCarthy had the final say when he tapped over a free in the last minute.
Bandons minor hurlers defeated Kanturk away on Saturday evening in the non-exam league and the minor footballers had a good victory away to Skibbereen away on Tuesday night.

U14 County Hurling Championship Final
Bandon 4-17
Sarsfields 1-02
The Bandon under 14 hurlers came of age in Ballinlough last Saturday as they totally outplayed a gallant Sarsfields side to become the County A Hurling Champions for 2005 on a scoreline of 4-17 to 1-02. In a game in which Bandon had many stars none shone brighter than Conor Hourihan. The elegant midfielder treated us to some superb fielding and stick work as well as ending up with a personal tally of a goal and nine points. Together with the tenacious Joe Harrington they controlled the midfield area for most of the game and kept their forwards busy with a steady supply of ball. In Conal Murphy at full forward they had the ideal target man as he constantly won possession and laid off some great ball to his corner men. Sarsfields tried three different markers on Conal, all to no avail as he scored four points from play and along with Fionn O’ Leary was instrumental in setting up Mark Sugrue for three goals.
At the other end Stephen Murphy did nothing wrong in goal and dealt comfortably with everything that was thrown at him. In front of him Eoin Sugrue played a real captains part at full back as he controlled everything around the square for the hour. He had two able lieutenants in Peter Murphy and Philip Crowley. The half back line of Chris O’ Donoghue, Stephen Lynch and Eoin Jackson were once again in superb form as they formed a barrier across the field that was rarely breached. The strength of this line has been a feature in all their games so far this year. The half forward line of Denis Cronin, Michael Minihane who took his points well and Sean Og Murphy were quietly efficient without ever being spectacular. They kept the ball moving well into the inside line and they hassled and harried the opposition when not in possession.
Bandon got off to a steady start with Conor Hourihan opening the scoring with a point in the third minute. Further points from Conal Murphy and Michael Minihane saw Bandon ease into a four point lead by the thirteenth minute. As Bandon were playing with a stiff breeze this did not seem a huge lead at this stage. However up stepped Conor Hourihan who struck a 50 yard free all the way to the top corner of the net to put Bandon firmly in control at this stage. Sarsfields responded with a point but six points shared by Hourihan and the Murphy brothers and a Mark Sugrue goal had Bandon leading comfortably by 2 : 10 to 1 point at half time.
Sarsfields to their credit took the game to Bandon at the start of the second half but they found it impossible to break through the Bandon rearguard. Ten minutes of constant Sars pressure only yielded one point while a five minute spell of Bandon magic saw them score three Hourihan points and a Sugrue goal. The game was effectively over as a contest by now and further points from Hourihan and Minihane plus a third goal from Sugrue only served to demonstrate the difference in class between the teams. Sarsfields only response was a goal from a well struck twenty meter free. Immediately after the game Tony O’ Mahony, Chairman Bord na nOg Corcaí presented the trophy to the winning captain Eoin Sugrue. Great credit is due to the team having come back from losing the under 12 county final by a single point two years ago to take the title this time around. Now they can turn their attention to the Feile in June.
The Bandon Panel : Stephen Murphy, Peter Murphy, Eoin Sugrue, Philip Crowley, Chris O’ Donoghue, Stephen Lynch, Eoin Jackson, Conor Hourihan, Joe Harrington, Denis Cronin, Michael Minihane, Sean Og Murphy, Fionn O’ Leary, Conal Murphy, Mark Sugrue, Brian Duggan, Conor O’ Donovan, Denis Desmond, Patrick O’ Driscoll, Colin Swanton, Andrew Moynihan, Jamie Crowley and Shane Hickey.
Congratulations to Mark Sugrue who was selected to play for Cork Primary Schools hurling team at half time in the Cork Waterford match at Thurles. Mark, the son of Denis and Charlotte Sugrue, Cappa is a pupil in Crossmahon National School and plays for the Bandon under 12 and 14 teams.

Bandon
Intermediate Hurling Championship, 1st Rd
Arigadeen Rangers 1-13
Bandon 0-13
Last Sunday our intermediate hurlers were defeated by a physical Arigadeen Rangers outfit in Enniskean. Bandon got off to a good start when Donnagh Lucey pointed following good play by Brian Hurley in the opening minute. Donnagh Lucey then converted a free following a foul on Donnacha Burke but the next few minutes were all Arigadeen Rangers as they notched up 1-02. Donnagh Lucey replied for Bandon as did Darren O Donoghue with a fine score from the wing but again Arigadeen picked off three more points in quick succession. Donnagh Lucey got another for Bandon but two more points for the Timoleague men made it 1-07 to 0-05 at the break. Arigadeen registered four points in the opening minutes of the second half and it began to look ominous for the Bandon men but six points without reply, three from Donnagh Lucey, two long range frees by Kieran Hurley and a point from Donnacha Burke put one goal between the sides entering the last five minutes. Donnagh Lucey and Darren O Donoghue exchanged points with the Timoleague men and Bandon went in seach of a goal but it wasn’t to be and it finished 1-13 to 0-13. This was a disappointing result for Bandon and they must now regroup as they prepare to face Cobh in the next round. Provisionally fixed for the 10th of June.

St Colums 3-14
Bandon 1-08
Bandons junior hurlers were beaten by St Colums 3-14 to 1-08 in Kaelkill Sunday night. This was Bandons first league outing and the game was far more competitive than the scoreline reflects. Bandon conceded soft goals in the opening half and left themselves with too much to do for the rest of the game. Ian McCarthy and Alan Johnson hurled well at the back while Vincent Goggin and Michael Mehigan did well at midfield throughout. Upfront Bandon relied heavily on James Dullea and Robert Moloney, who was outstanding.
Team; Shane Deasy, Dan O Donovan, Noel Bambury, Paul Long, Ian McCarthy, Alan Johnson, Anthony Nyhan, Michael Mehigan(0-01), Vincent Goggin(0-02), Robert Moloney(1-02), Andrew O Donnell, James Dullea(0-02), Kevin Kelly, Paddy Murphy(0-01), Danny Corcoran. Argideen Rangers’ forceful hurling secured them passage into the next round of the IHC with a 1-13 to 0-13 victory over Bandon after a throbbing replay at Enniskeane. The drawn game had precious little. But this game will have many talking points, not least a few controversial ones, but the result was the right one.

U21 West Cork Final Win
Bandon 2-06
Clonakilty 1-06
On Sunday evening our U21 footballers won the west Cork final by defeating Clonakilty in an exciting encounter in sunny Ahohill. Bandon got off to the worst possible start conceding 1-02 in the opening five minutes; however the Bandon players then settled into the game and dominated the remainder of the half but only converted 0-03 points in this period. Pat McCarthy opened Bandon’s account with a fine point following a good run. Robert Moloney kicked two frees into a difficult wind after fouls on David Aherne and Conor Sugrue. In the second half Clonakilty kicked three points in the early stages to put them five up but Bandon gradually worked their way back into the game thanks to James O Donovan, the outstanding Charles Dullea and man of the match Sean Clarke. Robert Moloney kicked a free before Sean Clarke saw his effort at goal go narrowly wide following a great run. A fine point by Ronan McCarthy put three points between the sides once more, then, the real turning point came, a long ball in by Donnagh Lucey found its way over the line to level the game 1-05 a piece. Bandon, who gained in confidence as a result upped the tempo and reaped the rewards, Ronan McCarthy kicked over a beautiful point with his left boot from the wing to put Bandon in the lead for the first time in the game and then David Aherne calmly rounded the Clonakilty goalkeeper and kicked the ball into the empty net following a excellent catch. Clonakilty fought hard in the last few minutes and added another point but the defence held firm and Bandon won the cup that has eluded this Club for 27 years. In goal Eoin McSweeneys handling was excellent and the backs played well as a unit, the positional switch of the two Milner brothers had a big impact on the outcome and upfront the forwards worked tirelessly. Great credit is due to coach Sean Crowley and his selectors Joe Spillane and Colman O Mahony for their efforts and Bandon can now look forward to representing the carbery division in the county, at adult level in football, for the first time since 1989.

Under 14 County Hurling Championship
The under 14 hurlers had a big win over an under strength Charleville side in Bandon on Sunday evening last. The match which was the first round of the County Championship was over as contest long before the final whistle as Bandon were in total control in the second half having led by four points at the break. A dominant performance by the half back line ensured that the forwards had a plentiful supply of the ball and they treated the sizable crowd (already in good mood after the Under 21 victory over Clonakilty) to some fine scores.
The team lined out as follows: S Murphy, P Murphy, E Sugrue, P Crowley, Chris O Donoghue, S Lynch, E Jackson, J Harrington, C Hourihan, D Cronin, M Minihane , S Og Murphy, F O’ Leary, C Murphy, S Hickey, Subs C O’ Donovan, B Duggan, C Swanton, D Desmond, A Moynihan, P O’ Driscoll.
They now face Kilworth in the next round of the Championship and that match will probably take place on Friday night, venue to be announced.
On Monday night they continued their winning ways when they beat Eire Og in the Carbery/Muskerry League.

Bandon
Intermediate Hurling Championship 1st Round
Bandon 0-10
Arigadeen Rangers 1-07
On Sunday evening our intermediate hurlers drew with Arigadeen Rangers in a dour contest in blustery conditions in Ballineen. This game never got going and was very stop-start from the throw in. Although both teams played poorly, some indecisive officials & poor refereeing decisions, to both teams, never helped this contest as only three points between the sides were scored from play throughout the hour. Donnagh Lucey opened Bandon’s account after two minutes following a foul on Darren Crowley. Arigadeen responded with two points of their own before Bandon hit four more without reply, a superb free by Tomas Bambury, two frees by Donnagh Lucey as well as a Darren Crowley point from play following good work by John O Regan down the wing. Arigadeen added another free before they were awarded a penalty that hit the post first, then the rebound was struck off the bar as it luckily for Bandon went over and not under and it was Bandon 0-05 Arigadeen Rangers 0-04 at the break. On the restart Donnagh Lucey pointed another free and this was the last time Bandon lead as an Arigadeen 65 went all the way to the net. The sides exchanged three frees a piece before Bandon were awarded another placed ball in the final minute and Donnagh Lucey whose free taking was impeccable throughout levelled the game 0-10 to 1-07. Bandon will be disappointed not to have had a bigger half time lead as they were on top for periods in the first half but failed to convert this into scores, however they will be glad to still be there when at stages in the second half it looked like it was going to be “one of those days”. Best for Bandon were Charles Dullea, Tomas Bambury, Donnagh Lucey and Darren Crowley. Credit to St. Mary’s GAA Club for having the pitch in immaculate condition. The replay is likely to go ahead the weekend of the 13th/14th/15th May.
Team; Pat Prendergast, Brian Hurley, Kevin Lucey, Joseph McCarthy, Charles Dullea, Tomas Bambury(0-01,free), John Aherne, John O Regan, Niall O Rourke, Darren O Donoghue, Donnagh Lucey(0-08,0-07 frees, 0-01 65), Donnacha Burke, Darren Crowley(0-01), Kieran Hurley, Jason Hickey. On Tuesday night our minor hurlers defeated Valley Rovers in the premier minor hurling league at home. Bandon got off to a great start when Brian O Donovan scored a fine goal in the opening minutes. Darren Crowley converted a couple of frees before the impressive Brian Crowley scored another Bandon goal. Brian O Donovan got his second major and further points by Gavin O Riordan, Darren Crowley and Brian Crowley left it 3-06 to 1-01 at the break. Darren Crowley struck two points early in the second half and a lovely flick by Brian Crowley went over following good play by Jason McCarthy(Crossmahon). Brian O Donovan and Gavin O Riordan added further scores and Brian O Donovan completed his hat-trick with his third goal of the hour. Impressive substitute Brendan Collins got in on the scoring with 1-01 as Brian Crowley completed the rout with his second and Bandon’s last goal as it finished Bandon 6-14 to Valley Rovers 1-08. This was a committed performance by Bandon. At the back Tomas O Donoghue, Timmy Crowley and Mark O Leary gave little away while David Aherne and Alan O Leary were exceptional throughout. At midfield James Walsh & Gavin O Riordan worked tirelessly as did Ronan McCarthy on the forty and in attack Brian O Donovan and Brian Crowley looked razor sharp.

U21 West Cork Semi Final
Bandon 0-09
Carbery Rangers 0-04
On Sunday night our u21 footballers defeated Carbery Rangers in a hard fought contest in Ballineen. Bandon’s shooting left a lot to be desired in the first half and they were greatful to there backs who were outstanding throughout and to keeper Eoin McSweeney who made a point blank save to keep Carbery Rangers goalless. Bandon started well but over elaboration cost them scores. Carbery Rangers opened the scoring but Bandon kicked two, one from captain Jason Hickey and a point from Richard Milner following good play by David Aherne. A vastly improved performance in the second half saw Bandon take control. On the restart Donnagh Lucey kicked a lovely point following good work by Charles Dullea, Robert Moloney then kicked a free and David Aherne put Richard Milner through for a fine score to put Bandon 0-05 to 0-01 up. Ronan McCarthy & David Aherne then exchanged points. Conor Sugrue replied to a Carbery Rangers free to put Bandon four points up with minutes remaining. Donnagh Lucey kicked a marvellous point before the final whistle as Bandon won by 0-09 to 0-04. This game was unpretty in the first half but improved significantly in the second. Bandon will be pleased with there performance defensively with all the backs outstanding in particular Timmy Crowley, James O Donovan and Charles Dullea. At midfield Donnagh Lucey and Richard Milner’s scoring ability was a key factor and up front the forwords worked hard with David Aherne making good use of possession throughout.

The impressive John O Connell added a goal of his own to put the result beyond doubt. Two more points for Bandon by Donnacha Burke and the hardworking Kevin Lucey made it 3-07 to 0-04. St. Brogans
Under 12 Football league
St.Brogans 1-11
Rosscarbery 1-07
In a game played in poor conditions St Brogans came from behind with 15 minutes left to play to win this evenly contested league tie in Bandon. Both teams struggled to come to terms with the soft ground early on and no one could argue with the halt time score of 5 points apiece. The game suddenly came to life as within 10 seconds of the restart Ross had scored a great goal. Bandon hit back with a point from a free before Ross restored the margin with a point from play. With the Bandon backs improving as the game went on Ross were coming under more and more pressure. 2 Bandon points reduced the arrears to the minimum before an opportunist goal put Bandon in front for the first time with 15 minutes left to play. A couple of well taken points saw Bandon stretch their lead to 4 points before Ross scored their final point to put just a goal between the teams with time nearly up. Bandon scored the insurance point in the final minute of play to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable game. Bandon’s next game is home to Gabriel Og on Monday night.
Under 14 South East Hurling League
St.Brogans 1-09
Bishopstown 1-03
St Brogans made it 2 wins out of 2 in the Southeast League on Friday night in Bandon with a 6-point victory over Bishopstown. Bandon’s greater ability to shoot points proved decisive in a dour contest where tempers were often frayed. Each side had a player sent off before the teams settled down to play some sparkling hurling in the evening sunshine. Bandon’s next game is away to Valleys on Friday night.
Under 16 Carbery / Muskerry Hurling League
St.Brogans 4-09
Ballincollig 2-09
This was the first match in the new Carbery / Muskerry Hurling League and if this was anything to go by then it looks like being a success. This was a good competitive game, which must be a benefit to both teams. And with the prospect of more tough games to come against the likes of Iniscara and Eire Og etc. the standard can only improve.
Bandon made good use of the wind in the first half in which the highlights were a brace of well taken goals from Ronan Crowley and some long-range points from Roy Payne. The halftime score had Bandon leading 3 : 7 to 1 : 4. Ballincollig really took the game to Bandon in the second half as they dominated around the middle of the field for twenty minutes. In that time they outscored Bandon by a goal and 5 points to 1 point to leave just 2 points between the teams as we entered the final stages. However Bandon lifted the siege and replied with a goal and a point in the last few minutes to run out winners by a 2-goal margin.
The next game is due to be played Sunday morning – details to be revealed later.

U21 West Cork Football Championship - 1/4 final
Bandon 4-10
Gabriel Rangers 1-07
Bandon advanced to the semi- final of the West Cork U21 football championship after defeating Gabriel Rangers in Castletownsend on Monday. Bandon started well with Conor Sugrue and Donnagh Lucey kicking over before Patrick McCarthy scored Bandon’s first goal. Further scores came from Robert Moloney (2 Frees), Donnagh Lucey, Jason Hickey and Patrick McCarthy and Bandon lead 1-07 to 0-02 at the break.
Gabriel Rangers started well in the second half but when Donnagh Lucey put Patrick McCarthy through for his second well taken goal it gave Bandon a lead which they would not surrender. Robert Moloney added another free and Bandon began to make a few changes, most noticeably David Aherne who scored a fine goal following a good team movement. Conor Sugrue kicked a long range effort before David Aherne scored his second goal after good play by Philip Murphy. Conor Sugrue kicked another huge point before the whistle blew and Bandon won 4-10 to 1-07. This was an improved performance by Bandon since their last outing. At the back they gave little away, James O Donovan and Timmy Crowley both played well and Diarmaid Cronin was exceptional throughout. Robert Moloney worked tirelessly and Conor Sugrues fielding was a key factor but goals win games and Pat McCarthy’s finishing was superb as was David Ahernes. Most pleasing to Bandon’s selectors will be the fact that all the subs played their part when called upon. Bandon will now play the winners of Rosscarbery or Dohneys in the semi-final.
Team; Eoin McSweeney, Timmy Crowley, James O Donovan, Anthony Nyhan, James Milner, Charles Dullea, Diarmaid Cronin, Richard Milner, Donnagh Lucey(0-02), Robert Moloney(0-03 Frees), Jason Hickey(0-01), Conor Sugrue(0-03), Patrick McCarthy(2-01), Paul Moloney, Ronan McCarthy. Arigadeen Rangers 0-12
Bandon marginally beat Arigadeen Rangers in The Sean Murphy Cup 1-11 to 0-12 in a close encounter that will have suited both sides before they meet again in championship on May 1st. Paul Long opened the scoring for Bandon. Darren O Donoghue scored Bandons second point before a Gavin O Riordan beauty from long range. A great goal by John O Regan at the quarter mark proved to be the difference between the sides in the end. Darren O Donoghue picked off two more points following good work by Kieran Doyle and John O Regan and Bandon lead 1-06 to 0-05 at the break.
Gavin O Riordan hit two long range frees in the opening minutes of the second half. Bandon were thankful to Brian Hurley who made a goal line save to keep Arigadeen at bay. Darren O Donoghue scored three more points (1 free) for Bandon but the remaining minutes were all Arigadeens as they hit six points without reply. This was a good win for Bandon and its all to play for when they meet Kilbrittain in their last group match in two weeks time.

Bandon
Intermediate Hurling - Sean Murphy Cup
Valley Rovers 1-13
Bandon 1-12
On Sunday last our intermediate hurlers lost by the narrowest of margins to neighbours Valley Rovers in the Sean Murphy Cup. Bandon started well with John O Regan striking over two fine efforts, a Donnagh lucey free and a lovely point by Philip Murphy put Bandon 0-04 to 0-03 up. Bandon upped the tempo before half time with Brian Hurley, Kieran Doyle and Tomas Bambury who was excellent throughout, beginning to dominate at the back. Kieran Hurley scored two long range points, Donnagh Lucey also scored a brace and Darren O Donoghue slotted over following good play by the hardworking Diarmaid Cronin & impressive Niall O Rourke. Bandon were grateful to John Crowley who pulled off a great save before half time and Bandon lead 0-09 to 0-07 at the interval.
John O Regan pointed for Bandon at the restart but Valley Rovers then hit three points without reply to level the game until Philip Murphy scored an opportunist goal for Bandon. Donnagh Lucey exchanged points before Valleys goaled with an unstoppable drive to tie the scores yet again. The remaining minutes were played in atrocious conditions. Valley Rovers went two points clear and could have gone further ahead only for a Joe McCarthy clearance off the line. Darren O Donoghue got one back for Bandon but we failed to find an equaliser and it finished Bandon 1-12 Valley Rovers 1-13.
Scorers; Philip Murphy (1-01), Donnagh Lucey (0-04, 2 frees), John O Regan (0-03), Kieran Hurley (0-02), Darren O Donoghue (0-02).

Bandon
U21 1st Round Football Championship
Bandon 0-13
Ilen Rovers 2-05
In perfect conditions at Rosscarbery last Sunday our U21 footballers defeated Ilen Rovers 0-13 to 2-05 in the first round of the championship. Bandon got off to a great start with Donnagh Lucey scoring three points (2 frees) in the opening five minutes. Robert Moloney exchanged points and then added a further two to put Bandon 0-06 to 0-01 up after 20 minutes. At this stage Bandon were on top all over the pitch, in particular Donnagh Lucey & Richard Milner who lorded midfield, the outstanding Charles Dullea at wing back and inevitably more scores were to follow. Ronan McCarthy kicked a lovely point following good work by Richard Milner & Conor Sugrue, Richard Milner then finished off a great move that was started by his brother James at wing back and Conor Sugrue added another fine effort. Bandon were thankful to Eoin McSweeney who pulled off a great save to keep Ilen at bay after 29 minutes and there was still time for Donnagh Lucey to kick another free from all of 50 yards and Bandon lead 0-10 to 0-01 at the interval.
Bandon started the second half as they finished the first with Donnagh Lucey cutting through for a nice point and Robert Moloney kicked another free following good work by Patrick McCarthy. Bandon were now beginning to tire and Ilen Rovers took full advantage when they goaled in the 45th minute, Robert Moloney kicked another free for Bandon but the remaining minutes were all Ilen as they kicked four points without reply and goaled again with the last kick of the game. This was a good team effort by Bandon who worked hard throughout but eventually tired and were glad to hear the final whistle following a tough hour. Bandon did enough in the first half to see them through but they will have to be more clinical in front of goal against Gabriel Rangers who they play in the next round.

St. Brogans
2004 U. 16 Footbal League Final
Bandon 4-04
Clonakilty 0-06
St Brogans under 16 footballers emerged victorious against Clonakilty last Sunday morning to win the 2004 U16 Football League title. On a day when scores were hard to come by the deciding factor was Bandon’s greater ability to score goals and no one did it better than the big full forward, Raymond Brennan. Having played in goal for the last number of years he was given his freedom on Sunday and celebrated by scoring 3 goals and 2 points.
Clon held Bandon scoreless for the first 25 minutes while at the same time kicked over 3 points themselves. Then in the 5 minutes before half time Bandon struck for goal twice through Raymond and Trevor Barrett. Clon responded with a point to leave Bandon leading 2 : 0 to 0 : 4 at half time. On the resumption midfielder David Crowley hit over a fine point to help Bandon establish early control. With both sets of backs on top the game entered a 20-minute spell where the only score was a Clon point scored from a free. At this stage even though Bandon were the better team they weren’t killing Clon off and a goal for either side was going to prove vital. As if on cue Raymond Brennan goaled with 8 minutes remaining and almost immediately Darren Crowley shot over a point to put Bandon 2 goals clear with time running out. Clon responded with a point but Bandon finished off with a goal and a point from Raymond and a final point from Darren Crowley to claim the title.
It was a good all round performance from Bandon who had star performers in every line and it gets 2005 off to a good start.
Team: K Dwyer, R Wilmot, D Ryan, B Collins, M O’ Leary, T O’ Donoghue, E O’ Donovan, D Kelly, David Crowley, J Walsh, Darren Crowley, T Barrett, R Crowley, R Brennan, D Murray. Subs used: G O’ Riordan, J McCarthy
St Brogans GAA Club wishes to thank the people of Bandon most sincerely for their wonderful response to the recent Annual Collection. The goodwill and generosity of previous years was very much in evidence on the doorstep again this year. The Club also wishes to thank all the collectors for their time and effort.

Bandon
Recently Bandon GAA Clubs James Nyhan announced that he will continue his hurling and football career with Cloyne GAA Club. This may come as a shock to many; however those involved with the Club felt that his move was inevitable with some time as James now resides in Cloyne.
James Nyhan, still only in the latter half of his twenties has given a lifetime of commitment to Bandon GAA Club both on and off the park. Over the years James has occupied many roles in the Club such as coaching underage teams, selector, club secretary, captain and many more; but it is on the pitch that we will miss him most.
James has represented Bandon GAA Club at every grade and at adult level for a decade since he first won a Junior West Cork in 1995 following his involvement on successful Bandon & Cork minor hurling teams. An Under 21 West Cork Hurling medal followed and James played a major part in capturing the Junior Hurling County in 1999. Although more renowned throughout Cork for his hurling, James is also a keen footballer and there is no doubt that Jimmy Gabriel and his charges will miss him also.
Our significant loss is Cloyne GAA`s gain and when James Nyhan is moving to your club, not only are you getting a great player but a marvellous clubman. All involved with Bandon GAA Club would like to thank James Nyhan for his efforts over the years and we wish him every success in his new challenge helping Cloyne go one step further.

St. Brogans
Everybody had a great night in the Bandon GAA pavilion last Friday night at the St Brogans GAA Club Medals Presentations. Once again this year a huge crowd turned up to honour the stars of the future and also to greet the Special Guest Star Ben O’ Connor. Other invited guests present were Carbery Bord na nOg Chairman Billy Creedon, Bandon GAA Club Chairman Colman O’ Mahony and Bandon’s members of the victorious Carbery Senior football team John O’ Connor, Kevin Walsh, John O’ Regan and Kieran Hurley.
With family members present as medals were presented to more than 120 players between the ages of 9 and 16 it was standing room only for any latecomers. St Brogans Chairman Padraig Crowley ensured that everything was well organised on the night while Gabriel Moloney our resident MC kept the proceedings running smoothly and efficiently as always.
In welcoming everybody Gabriel expressed the view that the night is in many ways the beginning and the end of an era. He said that some of the Under 10s were receiving their first medal while the 16 year olds were receiving their last before they progressed to the adult club. The Nursery had done its job.
Padraig meanwhile spoke of the great work being done by everyone attached to the Club but said that a lot more help is needed to ensure that every player can get to play in a satisfactory number of games. He stated that while Bandon have enough players to field a second team in some age groups there are not enough people involved to actually take care of them. He hoped that having lost the under 12 county final in 2003 by a single point and the under 16 county final in 2004 by 2 points after a replay that in 2005 St Brogans would finally win a county title.

St. Brogans
In St Brogans GAA it’s that time again when things are starting to get organised for the coming season but first we must attend to a very important matter from last year. That is The Medals Presentation Night. This year it is being held on Friday the 11th Feb at 8pm in the Pavilion. Presentations will be made on the night to the U10s, U12s, U14s and U16s and a large attendance is expected as the Special Guest Star is none other than Cork’s All Ireland Winning Captain, Ben O’ Connor along with members of Carbery’s successful Senior Football team. Because of this people are advised to come early to be guaranteed a good seat.
It is planned that the St Brogans Annual Collection will take place in Bandon on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th February. This door to door collection is our main source of income each year and it enables us to complete a heavy programme of matches and training, involving considerable expenditure on travel, hurleys, sliotars and footballs. This programme is only made possible by the very generous response of the people of Bandon to our Annual Collection each year. On behalf of St. Brogan’s Club, I would like to thank you most sincerely for your continued support.
A registration night for all underage players is currently being planned for the first weekend in March. The details still have to be finalized so more news about that later.
The Indoor Hurling has moved from Friday night to Tuesday night. Times remain the same as normal.

Nemo Rangers 3-06 Bandon 1-11
On Sunday last our intermediate hurlers were defeated by a physical Nemo outfit in The Sean Murphy Cup Final played at St. Vincent’s GAA grounds, in what can only be described as a game of two halves.
Bandon coasted to a 1-07 to 0-01 half time lead after dominating the opening exchanges with our backs very much on top, in particular McCarthy and Nyhan who hurled exceptionally well. After two mins Donnagh Lucey rattled the Nemo net with an unstoppable drive following good work by Kieran Hurley. Bandon then hit six points without reply, a long range effort by Hurley, 3 from the stick of John O Regan, including a brace of beauties, a good score by Milner, with Lucey adding another from the puck out. Nemo then opened their account and this was cancelled out by another fine effort by the impressive O Regan from the left wing.
At the interval it looked like there was only one winner, however goals win games and when Nemo scored two majors following two quick points shortly after the restart they were right back in the game and found themselves trailing by a point. Niall O Rourkes tireless work paid off and resulted in another point for Bandon. Hickey then exchanged points before Nemo goaled again in the 49th minute to put them in the lead for the first time. A Nemo free was cancelled out by a Kieran Hurley point before Nemo added another to put them two up with 3 mins remaining. Bandon went in search of a goal and Niall O Rourke, now operating at corner forward saw his fine effort well saved and Nyhan pointed a resulting free to leave a point between the teams. There was still time for one last attack and good play by hard working substitute Paddy Murphy created a chance which we failed to convert on this occasion and the cup went to Capwell as it finished Nemo Rangers 3 – 06 Bandon 1 -11. This was a positive performance from Bandon and our younger players acquitted themselves well and were not found wanting in a tough game that threatened to boil over on a few occasions. The Bandon team let down by the absence of several key players for whatever reason, put up a gallant and spirited performance and could consider themselves very unlucky to lose by the narrowest of margins.
Team; John Crowley, Brian Hurley, Kieran Doyle, Joseph McCarthy, David Lehane, James Nyhan(0-01f), James O Donovan, Niall O Rourke(0-01), Kieran Hurley(0-02), Donnagh Lucey(1-01), John O Regan(0-04), James Milner(0-01), Robert Moloney, Tomas Bambury, Jason Hickey(0-01). Sub; Paddy Murphy.
Lotto Results; Winning Numbers 7, 24, 27. There was no €850 Jackpot Winner. Lucky Dip; 4 x €40; John Murphy, Claire McInerney, Don Desmond, Helen Harte. Brandy x 5: Noel Hurley, Niamh Manning, T&C O'Mahony, Michael Houlihan, James & Valerie. Whiskey x 5: B&M Buckley, Pauline Long, Andrew O'Donnell, Peggy Kelly, Samatha Lordan. Under 16 West Cork Football C'ship Final V Clonakilty
|
Bandon 5-11
Kilbrittain 4-08
An amazing game took place in Kilbrittain as Bandon recorded an impressive 3 in a row of U14 West Cork Football titles. From a very early stage Clonakilty were dominant and after 15 minutes were full value for their 2 : 6 to 1 point lead. Slowly the Bandon lads started to come to grips with Clon around the middle of the pitch and the supply of ball was cut off from the Clon forwards. Bandon picked off a few points to leave the half time score standing at 2 : 6 to 4 points.
Clon started the second well with 2 unanswered points to extend their lead to 10 points again. From the fifth minute on the fight back started in earnest and for the next twenty minutes Bandon played some spellbinding football. In that period Bandon scored 4 goals and 6 points while Clon’s only reply was a goal. This left Bandon 5 points clear with 5 minutes left to play. But Clon to their credit did not give up and struck back with another goal three minutes from full time to leave the Bandon hanging on to a 2 point lead. In the style of true champions Bandon did not panic but went straight back on the attack scoring another goal and a point in the last two minutes of play to leave their large following drained but ecstatic. The cup was presented to the Bandon captain Jason McCarthy (Crossmahon)
Team
Cian Collins, Mark Muir, Eoin Sugrue, Stephen Lynch, Chris O’ Donoghue, Jason McCarthy (Crossmahon), Conal Murphy, Cian O’ Donovan, Eamonn McSweeney, Cian O’ Mahony , David O’ Driscoll, Ronan Crowley, Conor Hourihan, Michael Minihane ,Jason McCarthy (Deerpark)
