Bandon
Premier Minor Football Semi Final
Ballincollig 3-05
Bandon 0-07
The minor footballers interest in the premier championship came to an abrupt end in Ballygarvan on Sunday when they lost to Ballincollig by 0.07 to 3.05. While the pitch in Ballygarvan was playable, conditions were dreadful and basic handling errors were the order of the day. In the end we made more mistakes than our opponents and conceded three bizarre goals.
Bandon led by 0.07 to 0.02 ten minutes into the second half but collapsed after the concession of the first goal playing against a gale force wind and driving rain. In the first half Bandon got some very good scores to lead at half time by 0.06 to 0.01. The feature was a monsterous sideline kick from Gavin O' Riordan. This was followed by some great points from the boots of Darren Crowley, Eoin O'Donovan and Roy Payne. Best on the day were centre back James Walsh who had a fine game at centre back, Darren Crowley and Mark O'Leary.
One worrying aspect of some of this teams performances has been their lack of discipline at vital times during games. It must also be a source of great frustration for the team management, watching on as time ticks away, knowing full well games are won on the scoreboard and nowhere else. On Sunday Bandon players wasted at least five of the last fifteen minutes getting needlessly involved with match officials and in melee's with their opponents. As some of these talented bunch move on to the U21 grade and the rest backbone next years minor team they will have to learn that if you are counting down the clock getting involved with match officials you cannot possibly be concentrating on doing your own job on the pitch. The unavailability of Tomas O'Donoghue on the day, proved to be an insurmountable loss. We were overran at midfield in the second half when his ball winning ability would have been vital. The club wish this fine young player a speedy recovery. No one will have been more disappointed with this result than Team Manager Colm Aherne and Selector Tom O'Donoghue. Together with the players they put in a huge effort and the club is very thankful to them all.
Team: R.Brennan, M.O'Leary, D.Ryan, A.Tobin, G.O'Riordan (0.01), J.Walsh, S.O'Cruaolai, D.Crowley, D.Kelly, R.Payne (0.01), D.Murray, J.McCarthy, E.O'Donovan (0.01), D.Crowley (0.04), B.Collins. Subs.: R.Crowley, T.Barrett, C.O'Mahony
On Saturday the annual Mass for deceased members took place in the Pavilion. The club is very grateful to Monsignor Kevin O' Callaghan for a wonderful service. A word also to the ladies who provided the excellent catering on the night.
The St. Brogans A.G.M. will take place next Tuesday night November 28th at 9 p.m. The club is actively canvassing new members and are appealing to new residents of the town to become involved. Also retired people or adults with some time on their hands are most welcome to join.
The adult club A.G.M. will take place in the Pavilion on Friday December 1st at 7.30 p.m.
Anyone thinking of Christmas presents need look no further than Club merchandise which is still available and can be bought through the Secretary.

Bandon
Intermediate Hurling - League Semi Final
Valley Rovers 4-07
Bandon 1-09
Bandon Intermediate hurlers made their exit from the league on Saturday in Brinny, losing 1.09 to 4.07 to Valley Rovers who eventually confirmed their championship superiority. Bandon lost a man on the home stretch and Valleys almost immediately fired home two goals to put the issue beyond doubt. Best were Anthony O'Sullivan, Tomas Bambury and Gavin O'Riordan.
Team: E.Duggan, J.Ahern, A.O'Sullivan, D.Ryan, K.Hurley, T.Bambury, G.O'Riordan, C.Dullea, J.O'Donovan, D.O'Donoghue, D.Crowley, D.Lucey, J.Hickey, B.Crowley, E.O'Donovan. Subs.: J.Burke, D.Burke.
The Premier minor footballers play their much awaited County Semi-final against Ballincollig on Sunday at 2.30 p.m. in Ballygarvan. This is a game Bandon are more than capable of winning if they reproduce the excellent form that they have shown for almost two years now.
Over the past few weeks our conquerors Glen Rovers and Bishopstown provided some scant consolation for our minor and U21 hurlers and their mentors. Having beaten Bandon, both sides remained unbeaten and went on to win their respective County championships.
The annual club A.G.M. will take place in the pavilion on Friday December 1st.
The annual Mass for deceased club members will take place on Saturday the 19th November in the Pavilion.
Club merchandise is still available and can be bought through the Secretary.

Bandon
Intermediate Hurling - Sean Murphy Cup 1/4 Final
Bandon 1-20
Milford 2-09
Bandon Intermediate hurlers made the long trip to Milford on Saturday to play the home side. The final score was 1.20 to 2.09. Best were Anthony O'Sullivan, Tomas Bambury (only at centre back), Cha Dullea, Donough Lucey, Brian and Darren Crowley. This was a well disciplined performance except for the oldest member of the team management who had his name taken by the referee. We are reliably informed that he has now been cautioned by officials in the 1950's,60's,70's,80's,90's and now 00's.
Team: E.Duggan, J.McCarthy, A.O'Sullivan, T.Bambury, K.Hurley, D.Ryan, G.O'Riordan, C.Dullea, J.O'Donovan, J.O'Regan, D.Lucey, D.O'Donoghue, D.Crowley, B.Crowley, E.O'Donovan. Subs.: I.McCarthy, P.Moloney, R.Payne, J.McCarthy.
Bandon play Valley Rovers on Saturday in the Intermediate hurling league semi-final with time and venue to be finalised.
The Premier minor football semi-final against Ballincolig has been fixed for the 19th November, time and venue to be finalised.
The annual club A.G.M. will take place in the pavilion on Friday December 1st.
The annual Mass for deceased club members will take place on Saturday the 19th November in the Pavilion.
Club merchandise is still available and can be bought through the Secretary.
Any self respecting Cork football supporter of the late nineteen eighties would have been forgiven for thinking that "Killinascully" had replaced the main RTE news on Sunday evening. We had the unedifying spectacle of the Irish Compromise Rules Manager, none other than Meath man Sean Boylan lamenting the lack of sportsmanship and the over physical approach of the Australian team in the final game of the series in Croke Park. Sean Boylan a champion of fair play in 2006 surely Rebel fans are allowed a wry smile at his late conversion. This is the same man who twenty years ago, uncaged, and unleashed, Mick Lyons (not the Valleys version), Padraic Lyons, Liam Harnan (who it was said gave the word "animal" a bad name), Colm Coyle, Gerry McEntee and Colm O'Rourke on an unsuspecting GAA public. Has balanced reporting and revisionism in the GAA gone completely mad ?
Sean Boylan was manager of surely the most cynical team that ever played gaelic football. He should have been all too familiar with the scenes of the first quarter last Sunday. They were replicated almost everytime his Meath team took the field. The 1990 National football League semi final against Cork when Dave Barry was stretchered unconscious from the pitch being one of many examples. There are no plaudits either for the so called expert GAA analysts who left Mr.Boylan away with this glaring contradiction. His protege Colm O'Rourke was unlikely to raise it. These Meath boys would make the continuing antics of Kerry's much maligned Paul Galvin appear like the actions of a misguided altar boy. Obviously Mr. Boylan never heard of the old cliche "what goes around comes around".

Bandon
Junior C Football - West Cork Championship
Caheragh 3-07
Bandon 1-06
Not for the first time this season Bandon Junior C footballers were second best against Caheragh, this time in the championship played at Aughaville on Thursday night last under lights. The final score was to 1.06 to 3.07. Not for the first time this season it was the oppositions ability to score goals that was the telling factor in the end. Best in a disappointing performance overall were Cathal Moloney, together with minors Darren Crowley and sub Tomas O'Donoghue. The management gurus John Collis, Moss Johnson and Pat McCarthy put in a huge effort with this team and they deserve to be commended for their efforts. The second football team has been neglected in the club for far too long and they have certainly done their bit to put these players, and that team back on the club radar for future years.
Team: P.Moloney, J.McCarthy, J.Burke, A.Nyhan, T.O'Leary, C.Moloney, D.Lehane, S.Clarke, E.McSweeney, B.O'Dwyer, K.Doyle, D.Crowley, E.O'Donovan, M.Moloney, D.Burke. Subs. :T.O'Donoghue and D.Kelly.
Bandon Intermediate hurlers play Milford next Saturday in the Sean Og Murphy Cup quarter final. The game is fixed for Milford at 3 p.m.
The Premier minor football semi-final against Ballincolig has been fixed for the 19th November, time and venue to be finalised.
Incredibly there were three winners of €250 in the first Cork County Board Draw of the year, Gus O'Brien, Don Desmond and Aoife O'Neill. A big well done to Robert Shannon for his organisation of the county Board Draw in the club. Robert has been the Draw
Co-ordinator for Bandon for longer than we would care to remember and the club is indebted to him.
The annual Mass for deceased club members will take place on Saturday the 19th November in the Pavilion.

Bandon
Premier Minor Footballer County Quarter Final
Bandon 0-12
Fermoy 0-04
A game of two halves best describes our minor footballers resounding victory in the Premier championship quarter final against Fermoy on a final score of 0.12 to 0.04. The game was played on Sunday morning on a remarkable Ballygarvan surface. Bandon led at half time by 0.04 to 0.03 and this was attributable more to the very deep defending of the Bandon half forward line than to anything that Fermoy were achieving. In truth Bandon were making their opponents look far better than they actually were and ultimately games will always be won with scores on the board. Thankfully the second half brought out all that was good in this team and they blitzed Fermoy with every player from one to fifteen playing his heart out. Players won sixty/forty ball that they had no right to win and their sustained efforts were a joy to watch. Coach Colm Ahern will know that if they reproduce this second half form they will be very hard to beat.
The Cork minor selectors might do well to take a look at some of the Bandon full back line all of whom are under age again next year, Mark O'Leary, Darren Ryan and Adam Tobin. These lads don't stand on ceremony and you will earn your score. It would be wrong on this display to go singling out too many individuals but Tomas O'Donoghue, David Kelly, James Walsh, David Crowley and Eoin O'Donovan are all worthy of mention. Darren Crowley is quite simply the best football forward in the club this year and at his shoulder on Sunday was Roy Payne who is finally delivering on his vast potential and is having his best season ever. The ever improving centre half forward Darren Murray worked harder than any other player on the pitch and leads his line very well. Our best wishes are extended to another great prospect Cian O'Mahony who suffered an injury playing U16 football, thus missing Sunday's game and unfortunately he will be out of action for some time.
Bandon go boldly on to play Ballincollig at the week-end in the Semi-final. We wont even hazard a guess at the time and venue at this stage.
Team: R.Brennan, M.O'Leary, D.Ryan, A.Tobin, G.O'Riordan, J.Walsh, D.Kelly, D.Crowley, T.O'Donoghue, R.Payne (0.04), T.Barrett, B.Collins, D.Crowley (0.07), E.O'Donovan (0.01). Subs.:R.Crowley,B.Kelly
Only three teams remain in the never ending Intermediate hurling league and Bandon can expect to be playing the weekend after next.
The Bandon Junior C footballers play Caheragh in the championship under lights in Aughaville on Thursday night.
A special sub-committee was formed to run the recent function in honour of the late Denis Burke. Formed from among his old friends it consisted of club Vice Chairman Brian Desmond, veteran stalwart Noel O'Mahony, Noel McNamara, Kathleen Canty and Joe Crowley. They were ably assisted by Pauline Long and Bernie Lucey. To them and to the excellent caterer on the night Elaine Walsh a big thank you for a job well done.

Bandon
Bandon Premier Minor footballers will play their re-fixed quarter final on Saturday at 3.00 p.m.The venue at present is Ballygarvan, but this venue has not been finalised. Extra-time will be played if necessary.
We wish former clubman James Nyhan well as he goes to battle on two very different fronts over the next couple of weeks, firstly he plays in next Sunday's County Senior hurling final against Erins Own, and dare we say more importantly, he gets married a week later to Cloyne girl Valerie O'Sullivan. His many friends in the club join in wishing them both many happy years together.
Many nostalgic tears of joy and sadness were shed at the unveiling of a commemorative plaque to the memory of of a true club legend the late Denis Burke in the pavilion on Friday night last. This project was a joint effort between his friends in Bandon GAA and his former employers Bus Eireann and the plaque was unveiled by his son Donncha, Club Chairman Denis Lucey and Bus Eireann Chief Executive Tim Hayes. Denis who died suddenly on the 22nd January 2003 was fondly remembered as a great husband and father, a great ambassador for Bandon GAA and an exemplary employee of CIE and Bus Eireann.
Guests of honour were Denis's family his wife Aileen, daughters Mairead and Irene and his son Donncha and among the very large attendance were Monsignor Kevin O'Callaghan, Mayor of Bandon Pat Connolly, West Cork Board Chairman Frank Long, Judge Con Murphy, Bus Eireann Sales Director Barry Coyle, Liz Murphy from Scor, the aforementioned Club Chairman and Bus Eireann Chief Executive. Current and old Committe members, club members, work colleagues and friends were enthralled once more with the many tales of Denis the family man, Denis the Bandon GAA stalwart, the invaluable Bus Eireann employee, and the comedian. Among other things were reminded how instrumental he was in the building the pavilion and later in the clearing of club debt. A man of tremendous wit and turn of phrase who in his lifetime amassed only friends and not a single enemy. A writer and historian of reknown and as Tim Hayes put it" the consummate Master of Ceremonies". A common thread in all the contributions on the night was that nobody else could get away with saying what he said, or doing some of the things he did, for he was as Judge Con Murphy so succintly put it"also a thundering rogue".
A fitting final word on Denis's enduring contribution and legacy to Bandon GAA can be best summed up by paraphrasing from a famous graveside oration delivered by the then Taoiseach Jack Lynch almost thirty years ago. "..but more and more will be said of him as long as young men will match their skills against each other on the green sward of Charlie Hurley Park, as long as the lily white jersey of Bandon, colours that Denis wore and represented with such distinction, aslong as we see those colours in manly combat, or in the welcome sounds of laughter from his cherished pavilion, the memories of Denis Burke will come tumbling back in profusion".
"We will relish and savour them for we will hardly see their likes again. And we will tell children and grandchildren with pride the legacy of Denis". "The story will pass from generation to generation and so it will live...As long as gaelic games are played in his beloved Droichead na Banndan the story of Denis Burke will be told - and that will be forever". Cinnte ni bheidh a leitheid aris ann.

Bandon
All was quiet on the south western playing front last weekend as the premier minor football game fell victim to the inclement weather on Sunday. Unfortunately this postponement happened at the throw in and did not prevent people from travelling to the game. A big well done to the minor board for allowing the original fixture to clash with the hurling double header in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. At the moment the re-fixture is on Saturday with time and venue to be announced.
The U16 footballers will also play Fermoy in Bandon on Sunday, no time has been finalised.
Well done to clubman Denny Aherne who has retired from active duty with the Gardai after many years of loyal service. In the last number of years he has almost single handedly been responsible for the huge reduction in crime rates in the South East area. We can dispel the rumour that he is following his idol Mick O'Dwyer to Wicklow, as there is much to still be done closer to home. In a glaring example of the complete lack of co-ordination from across the county bounds, another of his (and Cork's) heroes Seamus Moynihan stole his thunder somewhat by announcing he was also retiring the same week. Denny coached the minor football team to last years County success and his son Colm is this years Coach. All their friends in Bandon GAA wish Denny and his much younger wife Maria all the best for the future.
Again a reminder to people that the opening Draw for the 2007 Cork County Board GAA draw takes place at the end of October. Anyone new wishing to join should contact a club officer, member, or promoter Robert Shannon.

Bandon
U21 County Hurling Quarter Final
Bishopstown 1-17
Bandon 0-07
With about ten minutes gone in the County U21 hurling quarter final a well placed Bandon forward drove a good goal scoring chance over the bar for a point. Bishopstown went straight down the pitch and goaled from a very similar opportunity. That is the five point differential that we have to learn from. Goals win games and at the moment we simply don't score enough of them. Hopefully that will change as these players mature. In truth Bandon were chasing this game from the first whistle against a vastly superior side and the final score of 0.07 to 1.17 is a fair reflection of this enjoyable encounter played on Sunday in Minane Bridge. The game can also be used as a barometer of the overall standard of U21 hurling in West Cork The already heavy conditions were not helped by several downpours during the game and at half time Bandon trailed by 0.05 to 1.10 with us having eight wides to their three. Bandon hurled with more resolve in the second half and had some good goal scoring chances ruined by poor striking. Eoin Duggan did however also make some heroic saves at the other end as he has done all season. Best on the day were nearly all defenders, Eoin Duggan in goal, Darren Ryan, Cathal Moloney and James O'Donovan, midfielders Cha Dullea and Gavin O'Riordan had their moments, while up front on a tough day for forwards, only Darren Crowley consistently threatened.
The quality hurling played on successive weekends by Glen Rovers and Bishopstown is the hurling we as a club have to be aiming for. Control on the first touch, superb striking, classy stickwork, and most importantly of all dramatically speeding up our play. There is no shame in being beaten by superior opposition, the way forward is learning something from each defeat.
Team: E.Duggan, D.Ryan, J.O'Donovan, C.Moloney, B.O'Dwyer, D.Lehane, D.Ahern, C.Dullea, G.O'Riordan, R.Payne (0.01), D.Lucey (0.03), B.Crowley, D.Crowley (0.02), P.Moloney (0.01), E.O'Donovan. Sub:J.Walsh.
On Friday week next October 13th a very important function takes place in the pavilion at 8.30 p.m. sharp. Work colleagues in Bus Eireann in association with his friends in Bandon Gaa club will unveil a plaque to the memory of the late Denis Burke R.I.P. This event is being held to commemorate Denis's lifetime of service to Bandon GAA club and indeed to Bus Eireann. An open invitation is extended to present and past club members, present and former committe members, and to the many friends and associates of Denis who may wish to attend.
Next weekend the premier minor footballers play Fermoy in the county quarter final. Venue and time to be finalised. Incredibly this team is on the go now for almost two years having won last years County Minor A championship. We wish the team management Colm Ahern and Tom O'Donoghue well as they bid to make the semi finals.
A brief note in relation to the forthcoming function in the pavilion. It is not possible given the enormous time span involved, and indeed the very passage of time for the club to send out individual invitations to this event. Errors and omissions would be inevitable and it would certainly not be in the club's interest, nor their intention, to cause unnecessary offence to anyone.
Again a reminder to people that the opening Draw for the 2007 Cork County Board GAA draw takes place at the end of October. Anyone new wishing to join should contact a club officer, member, or promoter Robert Shannon.

Bandon
Premier Minor Hurling Quarter Final
Glen Rovers 5-15
Bandon 2-06
Bandon played outstanding hurling in the first half of last Saturday's Premier Minor hurling quarter final against Glen Rovers and deservedly led at half time by 2.03 to 1.05 in Riverstick. Bandon were also well ahead in the wides tally at this stage. Every Bandon player was dominating in that opening half, first to the ball and keenly contesting possession. Bandon were really putting it up to a side generally regarded as unbeatable in this champioship. The second half however was a veritable collapse and Bandon were eventually overrun. The final score was 5.15 to 2.06 and even allowing for the strength of the opposition, this was a travesty and should not have happened. We conceded some very soft scores in the second period thus killing off any possibility of staying in the game. Bandon forwards on the other hand had to work much harder for their scores, against a teak tough defence. Throughout the hour no Bandon player could be faulted for effort and the team management can be happy with the effort. As this team proved in that first half, and earlier in the championship against Mallow, this is a good Bandon side and they should not have been beaten by that scoreline which was demoralising for Bandon and greatly flatters the Glen. Darren Crowley was the best player on the pitch in the first half, closely followed by Darren Ryan. Over the hour Mark O' Leary had a great game as had Brendan Collins, Roy Payne, James Walsh and Eoin O'Donovan.
Team: S.O'Crualai, M.Murphy, T.O'Donoghue, R.Wilmot, M.O'Leary, D.Ryan, B.Collins, J.Walsh, D.Crowley, J.McCarthy, Darren Crowley (1.05), G.O'Riordan (0.01), E.O'Donovan, D.Kelly (1.0), R.Payne. Sub:Jason McCarthy.
Junior C Football Championship
Bandon 0-17
Gabriel Rangers 1-08
Bandon Junior C footballers beat Gabriel Rangers in the championship opener by 0.17 to 1.08 in Bandon on Sunday evening. The forwards kicked some great points in this game, and the backs and midfield were well on top.
Team: P.Moloney, J.McCarthy, J.Burke, C.Moloney, T.O'Leary, T.Bambury, D.Lehane, S.Clarke, K.Hurley (0.03), D.Kelly (0.01), E.McSweeney (0.03), B.O'Dwyer (0.03), B.Collins (0.01), M.Moloney (0.04), E.O'Donovan (0.01). Subs.:T.O'Donoghue (0.01), I.McCarthy, A.Nyhan, D.Corcoran, A.O'Donnell.
The U21 hurling championship quarter final has been fixed for Minane Bridge next Sunday 3pm against the winners of the City Division Bishopstown.
A big well done to everyone who helped out at Sunday's double header, ensuring everything ran off so smoothly.A special word of thanks to the Ladies Committee for all their hospitality, none of whom will want to see a sandwich again this side of Christmas.
Again a reminder to people that the opening Draw for the 2007 Cork County Board GAA draw takes place at the end of October. Anyone new wishing to join should contact a club officer, member, or promoter Robert Shannon.

Bandon
Intermediate Hurling league semi final
Bandon 5-11
Eire Og 0-05
The Intermediate hurlers qualified for this years league final scoring a facile victory over Eire Og in Bandon on Sunday morning without the minors and most of the U21 players. The final score 5.11 to 0.05. Bandon played some lovely hurling against understrength opposition and were well on top in every sector from early on. The club should not have to appeal to players to make a real effort over the next few weeks to win this competition and end the season on a high, especially given who the trophy is dedicated to. A big well done to team mentors Paddy Cahalane, Adrian O'Donovan, Joe Crowley, James Deasy and Declan Lehane for getting Bandon to another hurling league final.
Team: E.Duggan, J.McCarthy, J.Burke, J.Ahern, A.O'Sullivan, T.Bambury, K.Hurley, J.Hickey, C.Dullea, A.Johnson (0.01), D.Lucey (1.05), J.O'Regan (1.0), D.O'Donoghue (0.02), B.Crowley (2.02), K.Doyle (1.01). Subs:T.Barrett and not used A.O'Donovan.
The minor hurlers play Glen Rovers next Saturday in the Premier minor hurling quarter final in Riverstick at 3.30 p.m. This team is very well prepared under Martin Kelly and Denis McCarthy and will give a good account of themselves.
On Sunday morning next for the early risers or those just going to bed, the Junior C footballers play championship v Gabriel Rangers at 11.30 p.m. in Ballydehob. John Collis, Pat McCarthy and Moss Johnson are in charge of this group. The club should spare a thought for poor John Collis a devout Cork football fan, on that long journey listening to the two Kingdom boys incessant gloating after Kerry's All Ireland victory on Sunday. Has anyone an i-pod or some other such device that we could lend him for the trip west.
Well done to Kerry on their emphatic victory as hopefully Billy Morgan plots a course for Killarney 2007 and beyond.
On Sunday afternoon Bandon is the venue for the tie between our old friends and neighbours Clonakilty and raging favourites Nemo Rangers in the Senior football and neighbours Barryroe against Brian Dillons in the Junior A hurling County Championship. This should be a very entertaining double header and help at the gates will be needed. Those able and willing please contact a club officer.
John Mehigan, Meelon won a prize in the last Cork County Board Draw for 2006.
Robert Shannon the Bandon promoter of the County Board Draw wishes to remind people that the opening Draw for 2007 takes place at the end of October. Anyone new wishing to join should contact a club officer, member or Robert himself.

Bandon
U21 Hurling Championship - West Cork Final
Bandon 0-10
Kilbrittain 1-06
Two vastly contrasting moments best encapsulate Bandons successful defence of their U21 hurling title against Kilbrittain in windswept Ahiohill on Sunday afternoon. Goalie Eoin Duggan the outstanding hurler in the club in 2006 brilliantly extending his hurley feet over his crossbar to save a certain point in the dying seconds, a score that would have won the match for the black and amber. He somehow brought the sliotar down controlled it and despatched it back where it came from. Any attempt at doing this has carried a health warning since Tipperary in the 1984 Munster final when Seanie O'Leary goaled the dropping ball for Cork, no such problems for Mr. Duggan though, cometh the hour cometh the man.
Seconds later the Kilbrittain goalie was looking forlornly to the skies as Gavin O'Riordans sublime effort from midfield sailed high over the crossbar to secure Bandon's first U21 two in a row since the seventies. It really was that close.
The final score was 0.10 to 1.06 and in truth Bandon were the better team for most of this match limiting their neighbours to 0.03 points in the opening 43 minutes, only one from play. The game was dominated by defenses with scores very hard to come by in the blustery conditions.
The half time score was 0.05 to 0.02 with every score hard earned and space for forwards was at a premium. Bandon were well on top in the opening exchanges of the second half and looked like pulling away when they conceded a goal, their only defensive lapse for the entire match.
Best for Bandon were James O'Donovan who was outstanding at full back, Eoin Duggan, Cha Dullea, Darren Ryan, Cathal Moloney, David Lehane and Gavin O'Riordan. All fifteen players contested every ball as if their lives depended on it and in championship a club or team management cannot ask for more than that.
This is a huge win for the club as it consolidates the underage success in an U21 grade that was neglected for far too long. We are now bringing through players at 21 years who in times past would have been lost forever to the club at this stage. We have now contested the last four West U21 finals in hurling and football, winning three and this is unprecedented in the club since the 1970's.
Bandon have now won the U21 West Cork hurling championship in 1996, 1999, 2005 and 2006 after going twenty years without winning it at all. Great credit again goes to the team mentors Tipperary man Terry Moloney, Michael Cronin and Dan Crowley agus go n-eiri an bothar libh sa conthae.
The importance of grinding out a result in a game like this cannot be understated. Most Bandon people would have settled for a draw as we were on the back foot for the last fifteen minutes and couldn't get the scores to close out the game. There is an ongoing message of defiance from these youngsters over the last couple of seasons however, rarely do the heads drop and they keep plugging away until the final whistle. This character augers well for the future of the club. Real leaders on the field are starting to emerge James O'Donovan, Cha Dullea, Donough Lucey, Gavin O'Riordan, Darren Crowley and young Darren Ryan.
Team :E.Duggan, D.Ryan, J.O'Donovan, C.Moloney, D.Ahern, D.Lehane, B.O'Dwyer, C.Dullea(Capt.), G.O'Riordan (0.01), R.Payne (0.01), D.Lucey (0.05), B.Crowley, D.Crowley (0.01), P.Moloney (0.01), E.O'Donovan (0.01)
We wish our many Kerry club members "bon voyage" for Sunday's All Ireland football final. It is certain that the other thirty counties and all neutrals will be rooting for Mayo. Our lads can rest assured however there's no hard feelings with us and that we will stick by them. Anyway there is nothing to worry about, Mayo are no hopers, one draw and four losses in their last five finals and they haven't won an Sam since 1951. Like taking candy from a baby.

Premier Minor Football Championship - 2nd round replay
Bandon 2-12
Carrigaline 1-10
Bandon minor footballers won the Premier minor championship replay on Thursday night in Brinny against a good Carrigaline team by 2.12 to 1.10. On what was a very poor night for football, for once Bandon were first out of the starting blocks and led at half-time by 2.08 to 0.02. This was the best football played by this team all season. They were playing with the wind, on top at midfield and with an unbeatable half-back line that drove forward at every opportunity. The second half was more about consolidation and Darren Murray had a very harshly disallowed goal where the ball was clearly more than a foot over the line and this helped to put a more flattering complexion on the final score. These players are natural footballers ,are very comfortable on the ball and more importantly they know when to let that ball go. We have very rarely had Bandon football teams with ball players as comfortable as those of the last few years at minor and under 21 level. The most impressive aspect of this win, and it is a tribute to their young coach Colm Ahern, was the directness of their football. This team believes in route one football, and the ball is moved swiftly into their lethal full-forward line spearheaded by Darren Crowley. If Darren hadn't been a Cork minor hurler in 2006 he would surely have been a shoe in on the Cork minor football team. Ten of this team were part of the victorious County championship winning team of 2005 and it shows in their confidence and belief in each other.
There is an excellent spine to this side from goalie Ray Brennan, young full-back Darren Ryan,centre-back the outstanding James Walsh, midfielders Tom O Donoghue and David Crowley, centre-forward Darren Murray who is the most improved player on the team, and full-forward Darren Crowley. If you add in the physical presence of Mark O'Leary, Adam Tobin, David Kelly and Gavin O' Riordan with the speed and natural ability of Eoin O'Donovan, Roy Payne and great young prospects Jason McCarthy and Cian O'Mahony who are both under 16. Bandon play the winners of Glanmire and Fermoy in the quarter final and with their feet firmly on the ground they have a great chance of advancing further.
Team :R.Brennan, M.O'Leary, D.Ryan, A.Tobin, G.O'Riordan (0.02), J.Walsh,D.Kelly (0.02), T.O'Donoghue, David Crowley, J.McCarthy (1.0), D.Murray (0.01), R.Payne (0.02), E.O'Donovan (0.01), D.Crowley (1.03), C.O'Mahony (0.01) Subs.: B.Collins ,J.Barrett, S.O'Crualai
Junior C Football League Final
Caheragh 1-12
Bandon 1-11
On Friday night the Junior B footballers unluckily bit the dust in the league final against Caheragh in Ballinacarriga, final score 1.11 to 1.12. The harm was done in the first half when Bandon trailed by 0.04 to 1.07. In the second half they actually led soon after Matthew Moloney scored a fine goal. Bandon missed another easier goal just befor the finish and that proved crucial. Best on the night were Cathal Moloney, David Kelly, Joe Burke, Darren O'Donoghue and Matthew Moloney
Team : P.Moloney, I.McCarthy, J.McCarthy, C.Moloney, D.Lehane, J Burke (0.01), D.Kelly, D.Cronin, B.O'Dwyer, E.O'Donovan, E.McSweeney (0.01), D.Craig, D.O'Donoghue (0.05), M.Moloney (1.03), T.O'Regan, Subs.:D.Burke (0.01), A.O'Donnell, D.Corcoran, B.Collins.

Bandon
On Friday night the unbeaten Junior 2 footballers play Caheragh in the league final at 7.00 p.m. in a venue to be announced.
Our overworked club Secretary had a welcome break in the last week with club playing activities back to pre-May levels. It gives us an opportunity to take an inventory of the adult teams left in championship.
The U21 hurlers are in the West Cork final having easily disposed of Newcestown in the semi-final. The team is managed by Terry Moloney, Michael Cronin and Dan Crowley. They play Kilbrittain in the final which looks like it will be a double header with the Junior hurling final replay. Keep an eye on the West Cork fixtures for this one.
The Premier minor hurlers coached by Martin Kelly and Denis McCarthy had a great first round win over Mallow. They are unlucky with the draw and will now play the winners of the Sarsfields versus Glen Rovers tie. The glen are raging favourites to win the competition.
The premier minor footballers coached by Colm Ahern and Tom O'Donoghue replay their second round against Carrigaline in Innishannon on Thursday night. The throw in is at 6.30 p.m. with extra time to be played if necessary. The winners of this tie play either Fermoy or Glanmire.
We wish the Cork hurlers well on Sunday in their bid for three in a row. They have done the county proud in their considerable achievements to date. The omens are bad for Kilkenny going into the All Ireland senior hurling final as up to now they have never won an All Ireland in a year ending in 6. This includes losing finals in 1916,1926,1936, 1946 and never to be forgotten 1966. Rumour has it they just didn't bother contesting finals in years ending in 6 after the '66 defeat until now that is. All is not lost for the Cats however as prior to last year Cork had never won an All Ireland in a year ending in 5, losing in two finals 1905 and 1915.

Premier Minor Football Championship - 2nd round
Bandon 3-03
Carrigaline 1-09
The fat lady was singing for the minor footballers in the Premier second round again on Tuesday night in Innishannon against Carrigaline final score 3.03 to 1.09. This team believes in doing things the hard way. Leading by three points after staging a great comeback, disaster struck and now they will have to do it all again. As against St.Michaels we were very slow to settle and didn't score for twenty three minutes allowing our opponents to build up a comfortable lead. Half time 0.07 to 1.00. A well worked move involving Darren Murray saw Roy Payne score a much needed goal which brought us back into the game. It was all Bandon in the second half with Adam Tobin and Gavin O'Riordan driving Bandon forward prompted by an excellent Darren Crowley who had been redeployed out around midfield. A peach of a goal from sub Ronan Crowley that would have done justice to the premiership in another code put Bandon in the driving seat, together with another from Jason McCathy who buried a rebound. Though we missed some kickable frees we were in control when lightning struck twice and Carrigaline got through for a goal with time up, reminiscent of the St. Michaels game. Well done to the players and supporters who braved the elements on a very nasty night. There is no reason why this team can't progress after the replay. Best for Bandon were Adam Tobin, Darren Ryan, Darren Crowley and Darren Murray.
Team: R.Brennan, M.O'Leary, D.Ryan, A.Tobin, D.Kelly, J.Walsh, G.O'Riordan, T.O'Donoghue, David Crowley, J.McCarthy, D.Murray, C.O'Mahony, B.Collins, D.Crowley and R.Payne. Subs.:R.Crowley.
A Draw which is open to everybody will take place in the pavilion on Saturday night. The prize is two
tickets for the upcoming All Ireland hurling final together with free accomodation in Dublin.

U21 Hurling Championship - West Cork Semi Final
Bandon 1-16
Newcestown 0-10
Bandon U21 hurlers had a welcome victory over Newcestown on a scoreline of 1.16 to 0.10. As most of these players were involved in the U21 football final it will provide some modicum of comfort that Newcestown can't now repeat our U21 double of last year. The strength in depth of this panel is illustrated by the players who were unavailable for the Semi final win with Conor Sugrue, Cathal Moloney and David Ahern due to return. Bandon await the winners of Kilbrittain and Ballinascarthy in the final. Best were goalie Eoin Duggan, James Walsh, James Milner, Brian O'Dwyer, David Lehane, Donough Lucey and Cork minor Darren Crowley who scored 0.08 points. In the words of Roy Keane "fail to prepare then prepare to fail" and in fairness to Terry Moloney, Michael Cronin and Dan Crowley nothing is being left to chance with this team and they are working hard and improving all the time.
Team : E.Duggan, J.Walsh, J.O'Donovan, J.Milner, B.O'Dwyer, D.Lehane, D.Ryan, C.Dullea, G.O'Riordan (0.02), R.Milner (0.01), D.Lucey(1.04), E.O'Donovan (0.01), D.Crowley (0.08), P.Moloney, B.Crowley
The club and the town extend a big "cead mile failte" to Eddie Gabriel and the Goldwing Motorcycle Club who make a welcome return to the pavilion this week for their second visit. Hopefully the weather will stay kind to them as their colour and good humour bring a breath of fresh air to the locality. A major highlight is at night when the bikes are on the road around town and they are lit up in all their splendour. We wish them a pleasant visit and hope they enjoy their time spent in the town.
Cork minor hurlers had no luck in the All Ireland minor hurling semi final against Galway once again losing by two points. A major problem Cork are encountering here is the seven week gap between winning the provincial final and their semi final. Last year Galway led by 2.06 to 0.01 after ten minutes and this year 1.04 to 0.01 with Cork appearing very "ring rusty". Incredibly Tipperary who were beaten by Cork by nine points in the Munster final are now in the All Ireland final as happened last year with Limerick who lost to Cork by twelve. Both provincial winners with long breaks were beaten in their semi finals. Well done to selector Padraig Crowley and players Darren Crowley and Gavin O'Riordan who were involved with
this team.
Any outstanding fully completed membership Forms together with any monies due should be forwarded immediately to Tom O Donoghue the club Registrar.
Club merchandise consisting, tracksuits, gearbags, jerseys, polo shirts, shorts and socks are still available through club members. Specimens can be viewed on the club website www.bandongaa.com.

Junior A Football Championship - West Cork Semi Final
Caheragh 1-11
Bandon 0-10
The Junior A football championship last won in 1989, is becoming something of a "holy grail", or as was the case in Dunmanway on Friday night, more of a millstone. Bandon were eventually beaten by Caheragh 0.10 to 1.11 and the dream ended for another year. One small consolation is that we were appreciably better than last week against Newcestown. Our match scorelines are however telling a tale of sorts, 0.10 this week, 0.11 last week, not the scoring of a team in the middle of the summer with designs on a championship. Dare we say things would have been dramatically different if we had taken either of the three gilt edged goal scoring opportunities that were presented to us, ecspecially the two in the second half playing with a good breeze and the game delicately poised. Inevitably a goal or goals win these games and Caheragh took their's with aplomb. Best on yet another night best forgotten were Brian Hurley, Anthony O'Sullivan, Cha Dullea, Kevin Walsh
(all backs) and Donough Lucey. If the post mortems are to begin here, then it is fair to say that we have gone back in football this year, not forward from last years watershed. Our players appear to be too slow delivering the ball, and they are too intent on taking the ball into contact when it should be played short or long at speed. We are under utilising our inside forwards and our attacks are invariably breaking down forty yards from goal. It is also fair to say that too many good players opted out of football this year, for whatever reason and these players are not easily replaced.
Team ; P.Prendergast, B.Hurley, A.O'Sullivan, T.Crowley, J.Milner, C.Dullea, K.Walsh, D.Lucey (0.04), J.Hickey, B.Kearney (0-1), A.Johnson, J.O'Regan (0.01), R.Moloney (0.02), B.Crowley, J.O'Connell (0.02), Subs.:K.Lucey, P.McCarthy,J.O'Donovan.

Junior A Football Championship - West Cork Quarter Final
Bandon 0-11
Newcestown 0-05
Bandon beat Newcestown by 0.11 to 0.05 on Saturday night in the Junior A football championship in Castletown. A dramatic improvement will be needed to beat Caheragh this Friday night in Dunmanway in the next round. A good starting place will be reducing the thirteen wides kicked over the hour from a multitude of hard won possession. Bandon led by 0.06 to 0.02 at half time but were very poor for much of the second half in a game that should provide a timely wake up call for a team that is still playing well within themselves. There were very good displays from Cha Dullea, Brian Hurley and Anthony O'Sullivan
Team ; P.Prendergast, B.Hurley, A.O'Sullivan, T.Crowley, J.Milner, C.Dullea, K.Walsh, D.Lucey (0.03), J.Hickey, B.Kearney, A.Johnson, J.O'Regan (0.01), R.Moloney (0.01), B.Crowley (0.02), J.O'Connell (0.02), Subs.:D.Ahern (0.02), J.O'Donovan, R.McCarthy, K.Lucey.

Junior A Hurling Championship
O'Donovan Rossa 0-16
Bandon 1-09
The junior hurlers fought the brave fight in the championship on Sunday night in Enniskeane before going under to a very useful Skibbereen outfit on a scoreline of 0.16 to 1.09. It was a game dominated by defences with all the Bandon rearguard from one to nine doing outstandingly well. Our forwards could never get away from Skibb's teak tough defence and their better ability to pick off points was crucial in the end. David Lehane and James Dullea scored 0.03 points each on the night. A big well done to the team management, Don Desmond, Sean Kearney, Niall O'Donovan and Paddy Murphy for all their efforts with this team who have had some great results but came up a little bit short on the night.

Premier Minor Footballers lose first round
St. Michaels 2-17
Bandon 2-09
There is an old cliche about the opera never being over till the fat lady sings, well she was clearing her throat in Brinny on Wednesday night when the minor footballers fell to a sucker punch before eventually going under toraging favourites St.Michaels after extra time on a scoreline of 2.09 to 2.17.
In a very brave performance Bandon led by a goal with time virtually up when disaster struck. At that stage Bandon were already a man down due to case of mistaken identity and we never recovered in extra time. Darren Crowley played a proverbial blinder, showing what a great dual prospect he is carrying on in football where he left off last week in hurling. Best of the rest were Darren Ryan, James Walsh, Eoin O'Donovan, Darren Murray, Mark O'Leary and Tomas O'Donoghue. This team should have no fear of meeting anybody in the back door.
Team: R.Brennan, M.O'Leary, D.Ryan, A.Tobin, D.Kelly, J.Walsh, D.Crowley, G.O'Riordan, T.O'Donoghue, C.O'Mahony, D.Murray, J.McCarthy, R.Payne, Darren Crowley, E.O'Donovan. Subs: T.Barrett.

Cork minor Darren Crowley was outstanding, closely followed by sub Roy Payne who played one of his best games ever for the club, Gavin O'Riordan, Darren Ryan, James Walsh and Tomas O'Donoghue making a welcome return from injury. Intermediate hurlers lose 3rd replay
Valley Rovers 2-14
Bandon 1-08
The intermediate championship replay against Valley Rovers unfortunately turned out to be a carbon copy of the U21 final played six days earlier. Again Bandon's inability to convert their early superiority onto the scoreboard was ultimately their undoing. In all we hit twelve wides in that first half playing against a strong breeze. The half time score was 0.05 to 1.06 and Bandon were well in the game despite conceding a soft goal. We were outscored 1.03 to 1.08 in a poor second half performance when our scoring power was non-existent. Valleys to be fair to them were good value for their win in the end on a final score of 1.08 to 2.14. Best for Bandon were Eoin Duggan, Joe Burke,Tomas Bambury, Kieran Hurley and Darren O'Donoghue.
Team : E.Duggan, K.Lucey, J.Burke, J.O'Donovan, K.Walsh, T.Bambury, K.Hurley, J.Hickey, J.O'Regan, D.Lucey, K.Doyle, D.Cronin, D.Crowley, A. Johnson, D.O'Donoghue. Subs.: B.Hurley, G.O'Riordan, A.O'Sullivan, J.Milner.

Bandon 3-12
Clonakilty 3-08
Monday night brought better fortunes for the club when our Junior A hurlers shocked Clonakilty in the championship played in Timoleague, final score 3.13 to 3.08. This was a performance of grit, determination and no little skill and the team management can be justifiably very proud. Best on the night were Joe McCarthy, James Dullea, Paul Moloney and young Eoin O'Donovan who was man of the match.
Team : P.Prendergast, J.McCarthy, N.Bambury, C.Moloney, B.Kearney, J.Ahern, D.Lehane, R.Moloney, V.Goggin, B.O'Dwyer, R.Milner, J.Dullea, E.O'Donovan, P.Moloney, N.O'Rourke. Subs.:B.Crowley, T.Crowley

U21 Football - West Cork Final
Newcestown 1-08
Bandon 0-07
Bandon unceremoniously relinquished their U21 football title to near neighbours Newcestown in Enniskeane on Monday night on a scoreline of 0.07 to 1.08. Not for the first time the raw courage, commitment and never say die attitude of Newcestown won the day. No club gets more out of their limited resources than our near neighbours and we arent the first, nor will we be the last club to fall into their web. We wish them well in the County championship.
In the final analysis the loss of Conor Sugrue, David Ahern and Sean Clarke was a telling factor in the final as they proved irreplacable for us. Let this result also be a wake up call for a few players who have not been "putting it in" but who are young enough to mend their ways and go on to have great futures. These individuals are living on their limited success to date. It's time to wake up now or in ten years time we will still be bemoaning what great prospects they were, before they joined the long list of players that never made the grade. Minor Football - Non-Exam League
Bandon 3-09
Douglas 1-08
Pride of place this week goes to our non exam league minor footballers who have qualified for the final of the competition for the third year in a row. They will now play Nemo Rangers. In the semi final they beat Douglas by 3.09 to 1.08 in a very entertaining game played in Bandon.
Team: R.Brennan, A.Tobin, D.Ryan, J.Mulligan, M.O'Leary, J.Walsh, S.O'Crualaoi, D.Kelly, T.Barrett, E.O'Donovan, B.Collins, C.O'Mahony, R.Crowley, R.Payne, B.Kelly. Subs.:David Crowley
On Monday night next the U21 footballers play near neighbours Newcestown in the long awaited West Cork U21 football final. While Bandon are going for two in a row in this grade Newcestown will start as favourites having hammered a highly fancied Castlehaven in the semi final. The form book tells us that only twenty months ago at minor level that same Haven team annihilated Bandon in a West Cork final by twenty points. The team will sorely miss the influence of David Ahern who is suspended, and the injured Conor Sugrue who was man of the match in the two previous games played. Bandon last played a game in this championship on the 8th of April when they disposed of Skibbereen, that was played four days after beginning the defence of their West Cork crown in a hard fought encounter against Carbery Rangers. Enough said.
The intermediate hurling championship replay against Valley Rovers has been fixed for Sunday the 2nd July.
This weeks lotto jackpot was again not won and is now up to €5,400. Last weeks numbers drawn were 1, 14 and 21.

Intermediate Hurling Championship 3rd Round
Bandon 1-16
Valley Rovers 1-16
They say "fortune favours the brave". It could sum up our performance in Ballinspittle when we equalised with the second last puck of the game through Donough Lucey in Saturday nights intermediate hurling championship second round. Valleys were four points up with three minutes remaining when up stepped one of the "wily older foxes" John O Regan to score a cracking goal. The final score was 1.16 to 1.16. in what was a cracking sporting contest played with great spirit by two evenly matched teams. Neither side deserved to lose this one. Bandon will still have to show considerable improvement to win the replay and while that is well within their capabilities this contest is by no means over. Man of the match on Saturday night was Tomas Bambury who is playing the best hurling of his career at centre back and hasn't put a foot wrong to date, he was closely followed by the ever improving custodian Eoin Duggan. Best of the rest were D.Lucey who scored ten points, D.Cronin, G.O'Riordan, K.Hurley, A.Johnson and J.Hickey.
Team: E.Duggan, K.Lucey, J.Burke, K.Walsh, K.Hurley, T.Bambury, J.O'Donovan, J.Hickey, C.Dullea, D.Cronin, D.Lucey, D.O' Donoghue, K.Doyle, A.Johnson, D.Burke. Subs.: J.O'Regan, G.O'Riordan, A.O'Sullivan, J.Milner
No date has yet been set for the Intermediate replay and this is very much out of our hands as was the foisting of the drawn game on us when we had players injured, doing exams and on holiday. There was no other Intermediate hurling game fixed for this weekend and if you want to know when the replay will be on you would be best advised to ask someone in Innishannon. Weather conditions on Saturday were not conducive to good hurling and as some wit stated at the ground the only factor that our opponents could not exercise their considerable influence and control over on the night, was the weather.
Minor football, non-exam league
Bandon 2-12
Macroom 0-10
On Wednesday night last the minor footballers defeated Macroom in the last game of the non exam league 2.12 to 0.10. Best were Darren Ryan, James Walsh, David Kelly, Trevor Barrett, Ronan Crowley and Cian O'Mahony. This minor football team despite promotion having won their section last year, have now reached the play off stages of the non exam league for the third year running. They play Douglas in the Semi final and have rubbed shoulders on way with the Barrs, Nemo, Bishopstown, Macroom and St.Michaels. This league has been a huge factor in the resurgence of football in the club and has been used by various team managements to successfully blood new players.it has been conclusively shown in this grade over the last four or five
years that we can consistently compete with and beat, the best in the county.
Team :R.Brennan, A.Tobin, D.Ryan, J.Mulligan, M.O'Leary, J.Walsh, S.O'Crualai, G.O'Riordan, D.Kelly, T.Barrett, B.Colins, David Crowley, R.Crowley, R.Payne, C.O'Mahony. Subs.:B.Kelly, D.O'Crualai

Junior Hurling League
Diarmuid O Mathunas 2-14
Bandon 1-08
The junior hurlers were much understrength at home on Sunday going down fighting to a resurgent Diarmuid O Mathunas going down 1.08 to 2.14 in the league.
Team: P.Prendergast, J.McCarthy, N.Bambury, C.Moloney, A.O'Sullivan, B.Kearney, T.Canniffe, R.Moloney, B.O'Dwyer, D.Canniffe, F.O'Sullivan, A.Nyhan, A.O'Donnell, J.Dullea, D.Corcoran. Subs: I.Mccarthy, D.Crowley
Our Intermediate Hurling championship second round has been sprung upon us for next Saturday night at 8pm in Ballinspittle against our very formidable near neighbours Valley Rovers. Because of players injured, players in the middle of the Leaving Certificate examinations and players on holiday Valleys will start as raging favourites for this encounter, though if Bandon were at full strength and continued to show improvement it would be a very difficult game to call.
Best of luck to all our Intermediate, minor and U21 players who face into the Leaving Certificate on Wednesday after much diligent preparation. The list reads like a whos who of current club talent, Eoin McSweeney, Darren Crowley, Ronan McCarthy, David Ahern, Brian Crowley, Alan O'Leary and Colin Crowley. We wish them well both now and in their chosen careers.
This weeks lotto jackpot was again not won and is now up to €4,700. Last weeks numbers drawn were 2, 23 and 29.

Bandon
Intermediate Hurling Championship
Bandon 3-19
Cobh 3-10
At our annual dinner five months ago Sean Og O Hailpin's catchphrase was "Mol an oige agus tiochfaidh si". He could have been talking about our Intermediate hurlers who Saturday night in the championship against Cobh won on a scoreline of 3.19 to 3.10. On view we had minors Darren Ryan, Gavin O' Riordan and the tenacious Darren Crowley, U21's ever improving Eoin Duggan, Cha Dullea, James Milner, the excellent James O'Donovan, and the outstanding Donough Lucey who scored 1.09. Then we had players just over U21, Jason Hickey, Diarmuid Cronin and Kieran Doyle. There were some wily older foxes as well Joe Burke, Tomas Bambury, Kieran Hurley, the outstanding Darren O'Donoghue and Alan Johnson who had one of his finest hours in a Bandon jersey. This was a significant improvement on the previous round and the team management can be proud of the teams transformation. The hard work starts now and there are sterner tests ahead.
Team : E.Duggan, B.Hurley, J.Burke, K.Walsh, K.Hurley, T.Bambury, J.O'Donovan, J.Hickey, K.Lucey, D.Cronin, D.Lucey, D.O'Donoghue
D.Crowley, A.Johnson, K.Doyle. Subs.D.Burke, J.O'Regan, D.Ryan, J.Milner, C.Dullea.
On the Vocational Schools front Darren Ryan and Gavin O'Riordan were outstanding once again for Cork in their All-Ireland win over the Premier County. Pride of place however goes to Darren Crowley who turned in a match winning performance, he scored three goals and generally tormenting the Tipp men. What was it Sean Og said about Mol an oige?
Well done to Laurence McCarthy,Rices Road who won €250 in the Cork County Board GAA Draw.
This weeks lotto jackpot was not won and is now up to €4,350. Last weeks numbers drawn were 6, 9 and 22.
