Bandon GAA Notes 09-08- 2016
It was a truly miserable wet and cold Bank Holiday Monday evening in Enniskeane on last Monday week when Pedlars and Bandon contested the West Cork A Minor Hurling Semi-Final.
Both teams played about as well as you possibly could given the awful conditions.
Pedlars would have been favourites going into the game, but Bandon had been preparing well after league victories over Clonakilty and Ahan Gaels.
Pedlars threatened to pull away earlier and were finding scores easier to come by.
Mistakes are commonplace in conditions like these and a big turning point in that first half was when a Bandon sideline cut went all the way to the Pedlars net.
This score reeled Pedlars in and from there Bandon kept their focus and never really looked back.
The Pedlars goal had come from hesitancy in the Bandon defence, but for the remainder
of the first half the entire backline as a unit attacked the ball and stood up well to the tricky task on hand. The teams were deadlocked at half-time 1.06 to 1.06.
In the second half Bandon were well on top and had they converted some clear-cut chances they would certainly have won by more.
Best on the night in what was a very good overall team effort were new goalkeeper Brian O'Connell, Ben Donegan, Robert O'Driscoll, Ciaran McCarthy, Conor Calnan, Aidan O'Mahony, Paul Lang and Mark O'Regan.
Bandon now await the winners of the other semi-final between Newcestown and Sam Maguires.

The club has to ask itself serious questions about their continued participation in the Junior B Football Championship after their insipid 4-16 to 0-8 defeat to Kilbrittain at Ballinascarthy last Friday evening.
That old saying 'if you fail to prepare you prepare to failâ comes to mind and after a similar heavy defeat to the same opposition in 2015 then a bit of soul searching is in order.
Please support the premier intermediate hurlers on Saturday evening at 6.15 p.m. in Pairc Ui Rinn when they play Kilworth in the county quarter-final.
