The last week has been a hectic one for Bandon GAA Club at Championship level.

The under 21 Hurlers were knocked out of the championship by Clonakilty at Rossmore on last Tuesday week on a score of 04-15 to 0-15.

The Minor A Footballers had more luck against a Kilmeen/Kilbree side at a very windy Ballinascarthy on Friday evening.  After losing the toss, Bandon were happy to be only trailing by 0-4 to 0-1 at half time.  15 minutes of the second had elapsed before we drew level after 2 frees from Mark O’Regan and a single one by Gavin O’Connell.   Ben Donegan had moved from corner back to midfield by then and he set up Gavin with the lead point from play on the 16th minute.  Conor Calnan added another before Gavin added another free to leave it 0-7 to 0-4 on 20 minutes.  The team was guilty of some bad missies, over-elaboration and going for goals when the points were easier to take.  The all important goal eventually came from Owen Nolan on the 28 minutes after a wonderful point from Paul Lang on 26 minutes.  Next up is Mhuintir na nGael in Ballinacarraiga on Wednesday 24th August at 07.00 p.m.

The Under 14 A footballers recorded a fantastic 3-15 to 3-11 championship victory over Castlehaven on Monday evening at Clonakilty but the best performance of the week was that of the Intermediate Footballers after their 3-8 to 1-11 hard earned victory over the warm-favourites Glanworth at rain lashed Ballygarvan on Sunday last.  Many fine performances but Barry Collins, Eoghan O’Donovan, name-sake James O’Donovan were very good whilst Donough Lucey was outstanding.  Great to see him back after the hand injury suffered playing against Ballydesmond in the previous round
