Southern Star 11th March - 07/03/2017

Bandon made a successful start to the opening game in the RedFM Senior Hurling League last Saturday evening when they defeated Ballyhea 01-11 to 0-8 in front of a large crowd at the well presented Top-Pitch.

Bandon were full value for their win, hunting in packs all day long, never allowing their opponents to settle and generally winning all tussles along the ground or from puck-outs where debutant Rob Long excelled.  Centre forward Jason Hickey impressed in general play and from placed balls, Adam Murphy proved a handful to his direct opponent all day but Eoghan O'Donovan was by far the best of the Bandon players on show contributing a point but assisting in plenty more and to the all important goal by Mark Sugrue just before the small whistle. Next up in this league we are away to Ballymartle on Saturday at tbc.

Team: Pat Prendargast, Joe Harrington, James O'Donovan, Peter Murphy, Philip Crowley, Donough Lucey, Joe O'Mahony, Eoghan O'Donovan 0-1, Cha Dullea 0-1, Tom O'Donoghue, Robert Long, Jason Hickey 0-6 5f's, Adam Murphy 0-1, Mark Sugrue 1-2, Cian O'Mahony. Subs Aidan Dullea.

The Junior Hurlers will commence their Carbery League campaign at home to St Oliver Plunketts on Thursday evening at 8pm and they had a 3-12 to 1-14 victory over Donoughmore in a challenge match on Sunday morning.
