Bandon GAA Notes 10-02-2018 - 2018-02-06

PIF

Bandon’s premier intermediate footballers went down 1-11 to 1-6 away to Carraigaline in their first  Division 3 football league game last Sunday.

Matthew McNamara was prominent early on being successful in winning 2 frees and a 45 metre free for Marc Sugrue to convert but these were our only scores in the first half which finished 06-03.  Jonathon Mulcahy, Cian O’Mahony, Darren Crowley and Philip Crowley were best in that half.

Upon the re-start Peter Murphy pointed after a good movement but from there on his influence on the game grew less and less due to being blood substituted on two occasions.  However, from the 2nd to the 15th minutes we conceded a goal and 5 points and a lot of this arose from our inability to break out of  our own half line.  But scores can be deceptive and we then found our groove and Alan Johnson scored a great point on the 12th minute and Darren saw a goal-buster come back off the post that Marc subsequently pointed.  Substitute Adam Murphy goaled on the 17th minute and maybe could have had two other green flags raised except for some fine goal-keeping and a wayward shot.  Remarkably neither team raised any flag in the last 13 minutes.

We play Fermoy at home on Sunday next 11th February at 2.30p.m.

Team:  Pat Prendergast, David Crowley, James O’Donovan, Joe O’Mahony, James Walsh, Eoghan O’Donovan, Cian O’Mahony, Peter Murphy 0-1, Jason Hickey, Jonathon Mulcahy, Alan Johnson 0-1, Philip Crowley, Matthew McNamara, Mark Sugrue 0-4, 3f’s & a 45 m free, Darren Crowley. Subs: Adam Murphy, Timmy McCarthy, Rob Long, Donough Lucey, Robert O’Driscoll, Nelson McCarthy, Olann McSweeney & David Ahern
