U12 Football

Our under 12 football Group 1 team defeated Bantry after a replay last Sunday at Bantry in the West Cork Cup competition semi-final 2-7 to 2-21 after playing out a thrilling draw 1-12 to 3-6 at the same venue in the drawn game on Monday 1st of October.

Bandon travelled to Bantry for this replay in determined mood and made two changes to their starting team from the drawn game with Jamie Minihane and  Ronan Aherne starting ahead of Shane O Mahony and Adam Kelly.

Bandon got on top early and raced into an early lead before leaving Bantry in for a goal. Bantry only managed one further point in first half as the Bandon defence tightened up giving the Bantry forwards little space. Up front Bandon clicked into form scoring 1-11 before the break and led by 10 points at the break.
Bandon faced the breeze in the second half but continued where they left off in first half and the defence ably assisted by the magnificent midfield duo of Stephen Murphy and Kevin Hannon continued to keep the dangerous Bantry forwards quiet.
Cillian O Mahony and Jamie Minihane were immense throughout. Up front Bandon continued to keep the score board ticking over with Captain
Jack Cullinane and Gearoid Murphy scoring freely with the assistance of the other forwards.
Bandon scored a further 1-10 in the second half while Bantry scored 1-5 leaving Bandon to run out impressive and deserving winners. Jack Cullinane  1-8 Gearoid Murphy 1-6 were Bandons top scorers on the day. Bandon now qualify for the West Cork Final against Adrigole.

On Tuesday the 2nd of October, our second under 12 football team were defeated at home to an Ilen Rovers side 3-11 to 3-18 in the Football Cup
Semi –final.
Bandon had been defeated by 13 points by Ilen in the league stages but were still confident of an upset in this cup competition.
The first half was a close encounter with a brave Bandon side battling well against a physical Ilen Og side. The sides were level at half time Bandon 2-4 Illen Og 1-7. Two goals coming from the impressive Cillian O Mahony playing his second match in as many nights. The second half was again closely fought with Ilen edging ahead before a  third goal from Cillian O Mahony had Bandon back in front. Adam Kelly (2) and Ronan Aherne (3) with points kept Bandon ticking along as the defence worked hard to keep Illen at bay.
However Illen Og rallied and finished the stronger scoring two late goals to kill of a tiring Bandon team, many who had been involved the previous night in Bantry in the drawn Group 1 game. A special word must go out for Bandon goalkeeper Krill Karprova who made a number of stunning saves in the second half to keep Bandon in the game. Overall a brave effort from Bandons second team.
Team: Krill Karprova - Jamie Minihane - Jack McNamara - Jack Lucey - Kevin O Connell - Shane O Mahony - Cillian O Mahony (C) Christopher Trunwit - John Hayes Holland - Gearoid Murphy - Zach Doyle - Adam Kelly - Ronan Aherne. Subs - John O Leary - Donnacha Sheehy - Jack Lynch - Cormac O Driscoll - Daniel Seaman - Oisin Scahill.
